Question about 2005 Chevrolet Impala

1 Answer

My car vibrates at around 50 mph in the steering wheel as I go faster i feel it in the seat and steering. I had all tires rebalanced twice. Could it be a brake disc or steering shaft?

You most likely need to get your wheels/tires rebalanced. Just for safety's sake you may want to get the suspension checked for any loose or worn parts, but my bet is that you just need to get your tires rebalanced and you will be good to go.

The car has a serious front end/steering wheel vibrations when accelerating above 55 mph. At lower speeds, the car runs fine. Thanks

Check to make sure there isn't any dirt, mud or snow build up inside your rims as this will throw them out of balance. If there is clean it out. If the problem is still there or none of that is in the rims feel around the tires, make sure they feel the same all the way around. Any bulges or cupping(uneven tread) and I would recommend replacing the tires. If still every thing is good take them to a repair shop and have them put on a balancing machine. They probably just need to be rebalanced.

A vibration developes, felt through the steering wheel, then subsides to run as smooth as ever. I might drive 40 miles or more with no problem, the it vibrates, feels like driving over cobblestones, for...

If this is happening at around 40 to 50 mph and it goes away when you go faster or slower then those speeds you probably need a wheel balanced. (please rate if this helps any Thank you)

Front end vibration

on both my Camrys, i had this problem. You could really notice it when you were driving down the road going 40-60 mph and punch the gas - car would vibrate, let off the gas - vibration stops, punch the gas - car vibrates...... On both, it was the CV joints. It is much easier to just replace the drive axles (with the new cv joints and boots already installed). For my last replacement, i think thy were only around $65 each.
