Your Malibu has a coil pack, not a distributor. It is located on the back side of the engine (when facing the car) toward the firewall. You will see ALL the spark plug wires going to it.
Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove intake tube from throttle body. Locate tps, unplug it, remove the 2 screws holding it on and take it off. Make sure throttle is closed and install new sensor. These screw strip out easy so start them with your fingers then tighten them. Plug it back in, install intake tube, and connect battery and your good to go. Also this would be a good time for a pm on the throttle. Get some intake cleaner and a tooth brush and clean any dirt out of the throttle body. Good Luck.

Is so try this procedure it will take 30 minutes total to complete PASSKEY LOCKOUTRESET ALL GM CARS 1999 AND UP 1) Put the key in the ignition and turn to the "ON" position. Leave it that way for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes turn the key and take it out. Repeat this process (2) more times (3 times, 30 minutes total) This should reset the PASSKEY system to recognize your key.
have you changed the fuel filter? i would try that. failing that, i would have a back pressure test performed on the catalytic converter. sounds like it could be plugged. good luck!
get a spark plug tool and put it over the spark plug and twist it counter clockwise then replace it with the same type of spark plug then twist it clockwise until you cant any more
check you mileage if the car has over 100,000 miles and you have not had a tune up it maybe time for spark plugs, air filter,fuel filter and spark plug wires if needed
lift the hood locate back of headlight take hold of the black plastic peice that has wires going into to it and give it a turn .its a 1/4 turn and pull itll come out. the bulb is plugged in just unplug it when putting in the new bulb dont touch the glass with your hands or itll blow out use the cover thats on it to plugg back in then remove cover and put back together.
if you have changed the plugs and wires you need to do a cylinder balancetest and find out what cylinder is missing after you find out what cylinder is bad check compression if it is over 100 check your injector
