Question about Toyota Tercel

1 Answer

I was driving my toyota duet for three days with check engine alarm on the dashboard and yesterday suddenly the steering became hard. On the dash board the battery light was on. I kept driving to home (11km). Today i did one test, started the engine and disconnected the battery, the engine stoped. Then i realized that there,re no power from the alternator. i checked to find one of three belts was completely damaged. I can't get both size and model number of that belt. And, what was the problem of the engine before the broken belt?

Slipping of the belt could be the reason for check-engine and, check-battery meant it was not charging. Probably if i replace the belt, both checks will go off. My problem now is to get the size and model number of the belt. I don't want to drive the car to the repair center.

thank you for the help about check engine. What about the size of the belt or model number. I would like also to have a repair manual

unfortunately Haynes doesn't have Repair manual for Toyota Duet. I once purchased repair manual for Nissan X-trail from Tradebit but they also don't have it. Can you help me get the manual of the car that is close to Toyota Duet?

Hi, once you have the check engine light/alarm on any car, you must have the engine CPU scanned first for trouble code's before proceeding to repair irrespective of any sign or damage on the car. This can only be administered with the assistance of a diagnostic computer (OBD-II) scan tool. You can purchase this tool, at your local auto parts store, or you can just have the scan ran at yourlocal auto zone parts store, free of charge. Once the diagnostic scan is administered, you will be able to isolate the issues that have caused the check engine alarm/light to illuminate.
This scan tool will display a print out code and the location of the issue, on the engine, as well. There are Many issues that will cause the engine alarm/light to illuminate.

Most times the check engine alarm/light comes up, it has to do with the engine itself but you can only isolate the main part of the faulty engine by using the scan tool or else you will keep on guessing.

Lost power steering and brakes while turning, came back on.

You had a check light on the dash

Did you not check for codes that day or the next?

You STOP using ANY Vehicle ,with ANY Lights on the dash,
AFTER the motor is running, UNTIL you know what the codes are

The vehicle should have been at a shop the next day NOT USED

Need to replace dashboard lamp on my 1997 Toyota

You need to pull the instrument cluster out of the dash. This is not a very hard job, but, you can damage the outer dash fascia as it comes off, past the steering wheel.

Move the steering wheel to its lowest position.
Remove the phillips screws that surround the instrument cluster fascia (under the top edge)
Pull the fascia off.
Remove the 4 screws that holds the instrument cluster to the dashboard
Remove the wiring connectors from the back of the cluster assembly, and pull it out. Replace the bulb, and reassemble. The wiring connectors cannot be mixed up, they are all unique.

2003 toyota prius hybrid while driving suddenly warning light come on with PS sign on then steering become hard. what fault it and what is solutin

could be as simple as you need power steering fluid, which intels you may have a leak, or it could be a bad pump. add fluid, see how long it stays in there, check every day andmore. if it doesnt last a week of driving then you have a leak somewhere. if it does but the problem persits, its the pump

Toyota Camry 1994 No ignition think it may be alarm

disconnect the alarm system from under the dash.battery to starter direct will turn the engine over fine but ignition system still runs through your alarm system. It's also a theft prevent system so your car will not be stolen. The alarm went bad preventing your car from starting. That means putting the ignition wiring back to factory.
