Question about 1996 Chrysler Sebring

Open Question

1996 Chrysler Sebring LXi Coupe V6 -- Check engine light came on and had Auto Zone put the tester on the car. Report shows Oxygen Sensor at Bank 1, Sensor 1 was inoperable, fuel mixture is too lean/rich, misfire code, and a code for the fuel pressure relay. Replaced battery, battery terminals, distributor cap, rotor button, and Oxygen Sensor at Bank 1 Sensor 1. The engine spins over but will not crank. Verified there is spark by pulling one of the plugs. Is there anything specific I should know about installing the distributor cap and rotor button? Wher is the fuel pressure relay located?

SOURCE: MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 5.

Same problem. 94 LHS 3.5L engine. Noticeable rythmic misfire at idle. Looks like cyl 5. When I pull the injector connector off of cyl 5 the idle rythm does not change. It does if i pull the inj connector off of any other cylinder. Spark OK. Injector ok using seperate 12vdc supply (clicks). Connector to injector has pulses on it verified with a test light. Inj coil resistanceis 12 ohms, exactly what it should be.

Still need to check compression and intake manifold gasket

Where is bank 2 sensor 2 on a 2002 Sebring lxi 3.0 two dr coupe ?

This should be the O2 sensor on the passenger side, after the converter. Its job is to report to the ECU on exhaust after passing through the converter, so has no effect on the way the car runs, but just reports on how the converter is doing its job.

I have a Chrysler Concorde 2000 LXI I with the Check Engine light on, so I ran it thru the computer scanner and it appears to say Fuel to Rich. What does that mean, and how do I fix it?

I agree with the comments posted from Jeremy, you dont have the code number?

A Fuel too Rich code basically means that an oxygen sensor in bank 1 detected a rich condition (too little oxygen in the exhaust). On V6/V8/V10 engines, Bank 1 is the side of the engine that has cylinder #1.

Here you have a description and test procedure: Repair/05/200o8c05/cip0171.pdf

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

2003 Chrysler Town & Country po171 code

DTC P0171 - System Too Lean (Bank 1)
Basically this means that an oxygen sensor in bank 1 detected a lean condition (too much oxygen in the exhaust). On V6/V8/V10 engines, Bank 1 is the side of the engine that has cylinder #1.

Note: This DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) is very similar to P0174, and in fact your vehicle may show both codes at the same time.

I would suggest that you take a look at the front oxygen sensor. Typically speaking the oxygen sensor causes this code to appear. Here is the possible cause list from the manual for your car.

Trouble Code: P0171 (2.5L V6 Auto) - Fuel System Lean (Bank 1)

Possible Causes:
Air leaks in intake manifold, exhaust pipes or exhaust manifold
Base engine mechanical problem causing a lean A/F condition
Fuel control Sensor is out of calibration (e.g., ECT, IAT or MAP)
Fuel delivery component fault (clogged filter, low fuel pressure)
O2 element is contaminated, deteriorated or it has failed
Vacuum hose is disconnected, broken, leaking or loose

Hope this helps (remember to rating this answer ans leave us a testimonial comment). Thank you for using FixYa.

P0171 just replaced mass air flow

p0171 is system to lean ( bank 1 ). did you turn off check engine light with a scanner! if not go to auto-zone and they will erase it for free, then you can see if light stays off. There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor.
  • Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, replace if necessary
  • Check for a dirty fuel filter and proper fuel pressure. Basically this means that an oxygen sensor in bank 1 detected a lean condition (too much oxygen in the exhaust). On V6/V8/V10 engines, Bank 1 is the side of the engine that has cylinder #1. good-day!!

What type of catalytic converters how many are need for a 2002 chrysler sebring LXI COUPE v6 3.0

it only has 1,,,,, but,,,,, very unlikely needs to be replaced,,,, may just need oxygen sensor. there are so many mechanics out there that tell everyone to replace thier converters, and the reason is they sell the old ones for lots of money for scrap. no need to spenn so much money for what may be a simple fix.
