Fuel regulator is bad. It's not letting gas pass, maybe the diaphram inside the regulator. But the whole thing has to be changed. It's easy to do. You may be able to find step by step instructions at www.autozone.com

Hi!!
The fuel filter is not properly installed. In this type of filters, you know when the it is properly installed when you hear the plastic clip "click".
Push the filter all the way in into the line and then push the clip until you hear it click in place.
This is the filter that the book shows for your vehicle

Check your fuel pressure and if its not within the specs replace fuel filter and pump.If its within the specs then check the ignition switch these cars are known for faulty ignition switches.

2001 grand am 2.4 wont start and it is not the pass lock i changed the fuel filter and the pump comes on

did you install the fuel filter correctly for direction of flow.this can cause no fuel flow.there should be an arrow on the filter indicating the flow of fuel.also if this isn`t the problem then have the fuel pressure with a gauge and flow checked as if its not within specs the car won`t start.

Replaced the fuel pump and filter on a 2001 pontiac grand am se. car wont start is there anything else or filter keeping the gas from going to the engine?

dont know if I can help but make sure the fuel pump comes on for a few seconds when you turn the ignition on if not check the relay under the hood you may need someone to help with this there are 4 terminals when you pull the relay out one will have power all the time with the key on another one will have power for a few seconds when you first turn the ignition on if you have power there and the fuel pump dosent run at all the relay may be bad you can also check the connection by the fuel tank for power when you turn the ignition on also I just put a fuel pump in my sons 2000 grand am and it did not start after I put the pump in but I could hear the pump running but we had only put a couple of gallons of gas in so I put another 3 gallons of gas in and it started I also just put a pump in my daughters 2001 grand am and it started right away but I had put 5 gallons of gas in right away You can also see if there is fuel pressure at the fuel rail on the right side or passenger side of the engine there is a connection to check fuel pressure you can take the cap off and use a screwdriver to push the valvestem in to see if there is fuel there and any pressure. if you have power to the fuel pump and plenty of gas and the pump wont run try hitting the bottom of the fuel tank under the fuel pump with a ribber hammer

2001 grand am fuel pump runs but I only get fuel sometimes. Fuel pump going bad? Or losing prime somehwere? May have run fuel lines dry

Install a fuel pressure gauge on the rail and turn the ignition key from OFF to ON, so you can hear the fuel pump run. Do this about three times, then check your pressure. Check for drain-back.

You could have a clogged fuel-filter, but if it has been clogged for some time, its possible that it strained the fuel pump and could have damaged the fuel pump as well. If you have low pressure, I would suggest changing the fuel filter first to see if it improves. You may find that you need to change both. If the fuel pressure drops rapidly after turning the key off, you have an issue with the check valve in the fuel pump, and the assembly will need to be changed.

2001 pontiac grand am se will not strt after replacing the fuel pump

Douple check that you're plugged in correctly. Also did you replace a wiring kit when you changed the pump. When you first turn the key on , dont't try to start abnd listen for the pump. Do this 4 times before trying to start, as this will prime the system. If still no start. get a gauge and make sure you have 45-50 psi at the fuel rail.

Car always turns over but does not always start with first turn of the key but then always starts with second turn of the key?

Try changing the fuel filter.
When you turn the key it activate the fuel pump. Gas is then pump to the engine to start.
If you see no improvement then try some thing to clean the gas tank. ( gum out)
