Question about 1999 Volkswagen Beetle

Open Question

I have a 99 Beetle and the AC/Heater fan control does not operate. The 25A fuse is okay and not blown. I pulled the glove box off and checked the blower motor (with the resistor unit attached) but it doesn't seem to have voltage getting to it. Jumped it with 12V and it operates fine. I then unplugged the resistor unit while moving the fan switch in all positions and couldn't get a voltage reading there either. Could the fan switch be bad or are there other things I need to check?

SOURCE: Reset check engine light after repairs. Which fuse? 99 New Beetle

goto a sears automotive center, walmart, pepboys or some place like that, they sell OBD 2 code readers for the car, you connect it up to the computer and it will tell you what the code is that is setting the light off on the dash, if it is what you fixed, then you click on the the button to reset the light and you are done... the OBD2 readers can be anywhere from $20 to $40 or so dollars from those places. just get a cheap one cause that will save you a lot of money. but atleast then if the light ever comes on again you can connect the reader up read the code and fix the problem that is causing the check engine light to come on...hope this helps and saves you money

Did you check all fuses after replacing everything? If you did not disconnect battery while replacement you may have blown fuse.
Good luck.

Why does'nt my heater fan work?

There could be a number of reasons. Fan is bad, fan area in box is so clogged it doesn't allow fan to spin, a bad switch at instrument panel, a bad resistor, bad connections. I would start by removing the fan. I believe you will have to go in behind the glove box. Remove the fan and check to see if it works, it may be fine if bad replace. Check inside of box for leaves and any other kind of clutter that may be preventing fan from spinning. Check wires to fan for mouse damage. Mice can take there toll on a cars wiring. If all is well so far check the switch in your dash. Switches are funny, some last a life time some don't. I believe you will find your problem, following these steps. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

No ac nd my fan stop working completely

Fuses blow because of higher than normal amperage in the circuit. Not sure what circuit the blown fuse is for but if it is for the fan the fan may be shorted therefore blowing the fuse. If you put fuse in while the ac was still on try shutting off the ac then putting the fuse in. See if it blows then if it doesn't then turn the ac on and if it blows you have at the very least isolated the system at fault.

2006 tacoma heat/air blower fuse location

Hello! Coil of Heater Relay is supplied through Fuse "IG1 2" (10A)...Located in the Drivers Side Box...Contacts of Relay are supplied through "Heater Fuse (50A)...Located in Engine Relay Box...Blower Motor has a 2 wire connector with wire colors: Black/Yellow (Pin 2)...And White/Blue (Pin 1)...Pin 1=Ground and Pin 2=Battery when Relay pulls and contacts close...
The Blower Resistor Pack (Which fails often) controls the fan speed...BUT, there is a fuse inside the assembly...If it blows = No Fan...Located on the top of the heater/AC box and can be accessed through the Glove Compartment...Guru...Saailer

Where is the heater/ac fan resistor located on a 1999 vw beetle

Attached to the blower motor is a device called the Resistor Pack...
It has a 4 wire connector...Wire colors are...Yellow...Green...White/Blue...And Blue.
Inside this resistor pack is a fuse. If you use an ohm meter.
One probe on Yellow wire and other on the Blue.
If it reads "open" the resistor pack is defective. If you read resistance
the pack is Good. Main power to the circuit is supplied via fuse #25 (25A) located in the under-hood fuse box. So simple answer is .The blower motor resistor is located close to the blower.
Let me know.

I REMOVED THE AC FAN SWITCH FOR THE THE FAN AND WHEN I PUT IT BACK ON IT DOES NOT TURN ON ANY MORE. HOW DO I RE-INSTALL THIS TO WORK AND TURN ON FAN FOR AC AND HEATER?

Fan switch ? Blower fan or engine cooling fan ??...I presume you mean the blower fan speed control switch.

On top of the battery under the hood, is a set of Green 30Amp fuses. These burn out the holder and a/c no longer works.

If so, by pass fuse with a replacement/repair '' in line fuse'' of 30 Amps from you local parts store.

Other reason fan not working is failed fan resistor under glove box near fan housing....although this is usually low speeds not working by HI does.

If you have the non electronic a/c system, the a/c rotary switch in the panel burns out often.

99 olds heater heats, but doesnt come on

CHECK HEATER AND AC IGNITION 10 AMP FUSE UNDER HOOD JUNCTION BOX.IF ALL IS GOOD CHECK BLOWER MOTOR FUSE AND RELAY.IF ALL LOOKS GOOD. TURN ON CONTROL SWITCH TO CHECK TO SEE IF POWER GOING TO BLOWER MOTOR IF YES BLOWER MOTOR BAD.IF NO POWER GOING TO BLOWER MOTOR FUSE AND RELAY GOOD.YOU HAVE BROKE WIRE BETWEEN SWITCH AND BLOWER MOTOR OR CONTROL SWITCH FAULTY. TO GET TO BLOWER MOTOR ITS LOCATED UNDER THE DASH ON PASSENGER BEHIND GLOVE COMPARTMONT YOU DONT HAVE TO REMOVE GLOVE BOX ITS JUST BELOW IT FAR BACK.YOU NEED TURN OFF RADIO FIRST THEN DISCONNECT NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE WAIT 20 MINUTES THIS DISABLE AIRBAGS AND THE BCM.REMOVE BLOWER MOTOR HOTWIRE IT TO SEE IF ITS WORKS. IF NO BLOWER MOTOR NO GOOD.IF BLOWER MOTOR GOOD THE AC AND HTR CONTROL SWITCH IS BAD DEALERSHIP FIX.

HEATER FAN QUIT WORKING. IS THERE FUSES?

Yes, the heater fan does have a fuse. If the fuse isn't blown, there's a sensor in the duct work behind the glove box under the dash that controls the fan speeds that you can check.

The heater fan is not operating and I thought it might be a blown fuse. I checked the fuse box under the dash and couldn't locate the fuse for the fan by the descriptions given. Do you know which fuse on...

My 2002 I35 has the blower fuse under the hood in the fuse box in the engine compartment. The fuse box cover has the "key" or description of which fuse is which. If the blower fuse is bad and you replace it, only to have the fuse burn again then I would check the blower resistors that are located behind the glove box. Very common for one of these resistors to go bad causing only low speed operation of fan. Burns the fuse when you try to operate the fan on the higher speeds. Good Luck

Heater/AC Fan does not work in our 1998 Buick Century

Fan will be under dash on passengers side , Removing glove box might be needed, Gm also uses a blower resister ro control fan speeds. First check your fuse and then check and make sure your getting 12 volts to the terminal at the blower, You could have a blown fuse, a bad switch, or a bad resister , if your getting voltage to blower motor then most likely it will be the motor. These are not to difficult to change. I hope this helps, please be aware I can only guess at what the problem is from my past experience.
