Coolant leaking from under engine 97 5.7l silverado

It is most likely the water pump, the air flow under the engine causes the coolant to go back under the truck. Fell under the front of the water pump for moisture or a slimy liquid.

My son's 1997 honda accord starting smelling hot, like something burning. He saw the temperature gauge was getting hot, so he pulled into a parking lot and opened the hood, there was steam coming out from...

I have had a similar problem with my son's Accord. You are lucky that your son knew to stop immediately, this happened to my son and we ended up having the head rebuilt.

A leak may exist but not show up until there is adequate pressure or, you may have a blockage that caused excessive pressure.

We once had the radiator leak which was nearly undetectable in his Accord, check for moisture in the trough where the radiator sits by looking down the inboard side of the radiator with the hood up. You may need a flashlight. Radiators are available at auto parts stores for about $100 and easy to replace. Replace the thermostat, cap and as many hoses as you can at the same time.

Another problem we had was the radiator cap had come apart and leaked periodically.

If the thermostat stuck, this could have caused a temperature and pressure surge explaining the now-you-see-it-now-you-don't leak. A faulty fan, or fan switch could also cause a periodic temperature surge.

The leak could be coming from the thermostat housing which is on the passenger side of a 4 cyl engine, or from the upper or lower radiator hoses or the two heater hoses. The water pump is on the drivers side and connects to the thermostat housing through a metal pipe with O-ring seals.

Procedures to change engine oil on 1997 Audi A4

the long answer is...put engine flush in oil, run for about 1 hour, switch off/remove key, then remove splash guard from under the engine (best done when car on ramps)then remove oil filler cap and drain plug on sump(oil pan).whilst draining into an empty can with the side cut out(drip tray) locate oil filter and punch a hole in the side of it with a screwdriver, and unscrew it.
Wipe oil onto the rubber seal of the new filter and screw onto carrier.hand tight only.
then replace sump plug washer(copper/fibre)and replace using a 6"long ring spanner and do up tight.
(max pressure of palm of hand)
put in about the same amount of oil that came out, replace oil filler cap and start engine.
check for any leaks, replace splash guard and lower car to level surface, turn off engine, leave for 60 secs, then dip for oil level and top up to midway on dipstick,
job done....
use 10/40 semi synthetic oil.

I am trying to locate the windscreen washer tank with the pump Where should I look and not at the Jag dealer...Kathylynn

Its under the front RHS wing behind the splash guards forward of the wheel. The pump is a push fit on the front of the tank wall via a rubber grommet seal. Best reached from under the car with the lower front splash guard removed.
Hope this helps good luck.

Coolant leaking right front area

hi, if its coming right from the front of the car then the chances are the rad has gone due to stone hitting it but it could also be a split pipe the only way to find out would be to put the car on ramps or axle stands then clean off all the area's where you see water then run the car and look under neath to see where its coming from as you could replace the rad and find out its just a split pipe.
Also you might find that the water is leaking from further back and running down parts of the engine making it come from the front of the car, you need to give the car a good inspection, i wouldnt drive it to much as you could cause the head gasket to blow meaning complete engine rebuild.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Where is the thermostat and water pump on a 1990 1.8l four cylinder engine ? Thanks

The water pump is on the passenger side of the engine, under the alternator and AC, above the power steering. The thermostat is in the bottom of the water pump where the lower rad hose connects to the pump. Hope this helps.

Water come out from Water line when Engine Shutdown.

Does it show signs of over heating at all? When cool, take off rad cap & check level in rad & top it up. If down a lot, start engine, turn on heat & let run until you hear rad fan come on & check temperature gauge to see if normal operating temperature. Let it come on a couple of times, and top up rad an inch or so from top, then put rad cap back on. Top up bottle to proper level & try it. If it spits back into return bottle, try replacing rad cap.

Guard front under engine draging ground. not properly installed

no you shouldnt have to - just park the car on level ground, you may jack it up to loosen the sump bolt then take out the jack and carefully unscrew the plug the rest of the way and drain the oil.
