It is a car with a separated chassis not a monobloc. The technical control asks me to show on the chassis, where exactly the number is stamped. If I can't show it, they refuse my car and it may not be used again until the number has been found. Nobody, even at KIA Belgium can really tell me where to find that number -I repeat- on the chassis.
Please, give me a viable solution.

Well, It seems that isn't good enough, because other owners of the same SUV have had the same problems and the chassis number was located at other places, but always somewhere on the chassis itself. There appears to be about five different versions of that car with the same specifications but always a little different. That's my problem. The technical control was very strict and they said they refuse my car unless I find a complete VIN number on the chassis. I did find a number on the firewall, but it only consist of the 6 last digits of the vin. Could it be the one??

The six last digits of the chassis number are 437918 and they are indeed stamped on the firewall left of the riveted silver plate with the whole VIN number (same last digits) marked on it.
    Thanks

Hi,

For most passenger vehicles, the chassis number can be found in the engine bay. • Lift Bonnet of Vehicle and Place On Holder For Safety.
• Look at the wall behind the motor (this is often referred to as the "firewall" and is the wall that separates the engine bay and the vehicles dashboard in the cabin.)
• In almost all cases the chassis number will be located in the middle of the top part of the firewall. This number may either be stamped into the body in the same color as the paint or can be a silver "credit-card" sized plate riveted in the same area.

Let me know,if needed further assistance..

Hope i helped you.

    Thanks for your response!!

I had a talk with an expert who worked on this model. He said, this information is available on the driver's door pillar. He also said that there would be sticker with VIN ( or chassis number ). It would have the production, date of the car, month and year printed on it.

The VIN or chassis number would be something like KTXXXXXXXXXX .

Let me know,if needed further assistance..

    Hope i helped you.

    Thanks for your response!!

I sent a message to other expert who sent the above information so that we could find the VIN number on the chassis. Moreover, kindly provide the 6 digits that you found there so that i could confirm whether those numbers are VIN or something else.

    Thanks!!

Is chasses on kia sportage 2001 model strong

about as strong as folded 1mm thick sheet metal can be. Most cars now do not have a chassis but are uni-construction which means that the whole body is the chassis and if you are planning in fitting a tow bar to the car then get a tow bar fitter to do the job with an approved tow unit that has been designed to spread the stress over a large section of the car.

Some makers used Vacuum releases for their emergency brakes which had a Vacuum switch connected to the shift assembly. This would account for a stumble if Vacuum vented out through this switch.

More common for shifting stumble to occur from Park to Drive, engaging a load on the engine, not to stumble to a freewheeling Park position. Sounds like idle speed control is sluggish to stabilize the motor.

You also have idle speed control problem with A/C, kind of shows that A/C was what kept the engine running because when you turned the A/C off, the car died.

I am going to give you some Websites for wiring diagrams. Alldatadiy.com amd Autozone.com with free wiring info upon registering your vehicle.

It seems that the base Idle speed control is not working and the A/C idle speed control is.

Also check for Vacuum leaks on the intake manifold by spraying water from a pumpbottle on the seams of the gaskets.

Check ignition Relay or ignition switch for random cutouts. The fusebox layout is on the Autozone site.

I hope my solution helps.

Kia problems

The sensor is on the passenger side under the hood, it tells the PCM to ignore misfire signals from the engine when on rough roads, so yes it is safe to drive.
