Normal settings that i apply to everything except some old 1960s gt versions is 12th inlet and 15 exhaust these setings are more or less appropiate for all adjustable tappet settings unless as stated an old gt ford then its something like 22th ,and clacking like hell ,well iam looking in my autodata book and nothing shows that old or even the same size engine but most are showing .15-,25 inlet and ,25-,35 exhaust mm for the toyotas ,scanning and posting takes a long time as i have to reduce the picture to under 150kb which loses a lot of detail ,now as this vehicle was produced to run on 4 star petrol and now only 95 octane is available unless you pay for 98 ,now this will run on 95 unleaded as it should have stelite coated valves and seats provided that you adjust the timing to 6? trying to use original settings like 10 or 12? will make it pink like hell ,ok you lose a bit of power but ?? not really noticeable on a cooking engine like this .

You'll need a shop manual for that info., but don't rush out and spend anything on one. You can go to autozone.com and register for free. Once registered you can access a library of manuals with all the information you'll need. Remember it's FREE.

    1. The valves adjustment should only performed for a warm (hot) engine. This is the condition issued by Toyota. If you adjust the valves for a cold engine, when engine warm up the valves clearances will decrease. Therefore obligatory check

I was looking for valve adjustment specs on my 1993 Toyota tercel 1.5L how to procedure

There are no valve adjustment specs as the valves are hydraulic controlled . If you have a noise it will be from faulty/worn followers .Or from worn rocker bushes and shafts

Do i torque my rocker arms down on '88 caprice w/307 ? if so what is the torque specs on them

The nut is a self locking nut. so there is no torque spec for them. What you do is set a preliminary clearance with the tappets pumped up, then set final clearance/lash when engine is fired up initially.

The engine is started and allowed to come up to operating temperature- put foil over the hole in the pushrod end of the rocker arm to reduce oil spray, nut is backed out slowly until clatter is heard, and the nut slowly tightened until noise just disappears, then the nut is tightened in 1/4 turn steps until 1 full turn in has been reached. At each 1/4 turn pause, allow engine idle to smooth out before proceeding.

Once all valves are adjusted, you are ready to put the covers back on and finish the rest of the assembly.

For initial set point, when building the engine up, make sure the cam lobe is on the heal (no lift) portion of the cam, and pump up the lifter until significant resistance is felt, and tighten the rocker adjusting nut until you you feel actual resistance to turning the pushrod. move to the next valve.

What is the rocker arm torque on a 1994 plymouth voyager se 3.3l

Its not realy measured by torque on the rocker arm it self because the arm is perloaded by the valve spring plus its a lock nut .The valve adjustment is the thing you need to deal with witch is the space between the rocker arm and the valve stem where it contacts the rocker arm its a spicific clearance in thousands of an inch the exhust is uasly a couple thousands more because it runs slightly hotter . You realy need to check the specific methoid and and spec's for your engine on line or mabey call the dealer its not that its that hard to do it just needs to be correct to tight and it could do a lot of damage to the engine valve train

If the vehicle is fitted with a Rocam engine, the valve clearance is not adjustable, hydraulic lifters.
The camshaft caps are torqued in two stages, first 10Nm and than 90 degrees

How do you adjust aftermarket roller rocker arms

well first you need to know the firing order...if it's a small block chevy the firing order is 18436572. You need to write the second four digits underneath the first four digits.

so it looks like this 1843
6572

This will let you know which rocker to adjust...turn the engine over by hand using a rachet on the crank shaft bolt by the harmonic balancer until you get both rockers for number 6 cylinder moving at the same time. Now you may adjust the clearance for both rocker for number 1 cylinder. Then crank the engine over by hand again until number 5 cylinder rockers start to move. Now you can adjust the clearance on number 8 cylinder. You will need to know the manufacturer specs for the valve clearance...continue until all rockers have been adjusted.

Note: The engine should be warm when you make the adjustment.

please rate this.
