Very common problem, it's the plastic bushing that breaks. It's Dorman part # 14057.

Rear fuse box is under the seat bottom, rear seat (middle row) on the driver's side. There is a plastic cover over the top of it that snaps into place.

2004 gmc envoy shifter stuck key wont release

First i would check your brake switch it works a locking mechanism right along side your gear shifter which locks the gearshift in place. also look for a slot sometimes there is a slot made for you to slide your key into to release the shifter and allow you to move it manually. it will be on top somewhere by your shifter identification indicator PRND321 if the brake switch is good remove the PRD321 cover and look for the lock on the right hand side at the base of the shifter this may need replacing. thanks for using Fix Ya

Lights on dim do not work on my 2006 GMC Envoy. Brights are okay.

check the bulbs with a meter often one will have been burned out and no one noticed , then when the 2nd one goes out, you notice , if they check out ok, check the switch,, often they will short out and not make the connection to complete the circuit, yet the brights will work because thats a different circuit and makes contact in a different portion of the switch, check all the connections at the plug ,, located under the dash , Just follow the steering column down, you will see the wire connectors in that area , they can also wiggle loose,

Check out this site for the part to fix the transmission end of the cable. Go to the rear end of the transmission on the driver' side (under the car/truck). Make sure to push the transmisssion lever toward the front of the car/truck (park position), the shifter should also be in park. Get the part, install is easy.

it sounds like your shifter cable came loose. the end piece came out that connects to your transmission. you will have to jack up the car and manually shift it back to park and then either replace your shifter cable which is 85$ or so just for parts or use a shifter cable replacement kit which runs for about 20 bucks online. http://www.atfspeed.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=21&zenid=g5830qsioo71fb0bsjtjne2cs6 the cable will only be sold by a dealer
