Can I add something to my car's gas tank that has a slow seam leak?

there is nothing to stop leaks in fuel tanks
however a cheap fix is to go to a wreckers/junk yard and get another tank

2002 Lincoln ls has a gas leak when I go to the gas station and put 15$ or more gas starts rushing out not all of it maybe 5$ worth which is enough and as I drive it today I see a small leak

I can see your picture that you posted. Each tank can usually only leak from a few places. The filler tube, the overfill tube, the fuel line going in, the fuel line going out, or a seam in a metal tank. Also, seeing as how A lot of pumps are made of plastic, it could be leaking from there also. As I stated before there is also a rubber O-ring between the pump and the tank which could also leak. Other than that, that is it, unless there is a hole in the tank. Please be cautious

Gas leak on the seam of plastic gas tank

Looks like time for a new tank. There are methods for "welding plastic" you might take it to a Shop that repairs raditors and gas tanks. When you take it to the shop have as little gas in it as possible. SHOPS HATE IT WHEN THEY HAVE TO REMOVE 20 GALLONS OF GAS BEFORE REMOVING THE TANK. You might check with the dealer to see if this is a common problem if its not collision damage.
GOOD LUCK. PLEASE POST AND LET US KNOW WHAT YOU END UP DOING.
IT HELPS WHEN YOU ASK THESE QUESTIONS IF YOU TELL US THE MODEL AND YEAR OF THE CAR.

I had a leaking gas tank that looked deformed i had it replaced at chevy dealership parts garanteed for 1 year, 6 months later i developed the same problem they refused to replace the tank . i told them...

Guarantee covers defects in manufacture not abuse or road incidents. If tank showed physical damage on it, they were correct. If tank was fine and leaking by seams it was on them to honor.

Gas Tank Leak when Filling / Check Engine Light due to Vapor Leak" I'm reading these gas tank filling issues on the 04 Avalanche, I've had them too. Now another issue; when you fill the truck and...

It may just be the fuel pump seal at the top of the tank. it has to be dropped for a definite diagnosis. It is rare but the tank seams occasionally crack too. Good luck.

Leaks when it's half full - could be a seam leak.

I bought a 1989 XJ6 and noticed that trunk was full of gas from a leak that seams to be coming from the bottom center of tank. Could it just be fuel line (seals) or a hole? The owner said he never had that...

Yes there is some think you can do before you pull the tank
Clean and dry the trunk check the fuel line and tank were the leak come from
And just be care full this is real gas that you talking about

My gas tank leaks if it gets over half a tank

sounds like a seam on the tank has either split or rusted away, better get to a garage...or keep it under 1/2 tank.

What does diagnostic code PO455

A code p0455 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:
  • A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
  • A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
  • Other leak or damaged piece in EVAP system

With a p0455, the most common repair is to:
  • Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
  • Otherwise, replace the gas cap, and/or
  • Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses (you may hear a vacuum noise or smell fuel), repair if necessary.

Replace leaking fuel tank

Remove the filler tube. Remove the rubber fuel line and plug. Remove the attaching bolts for the tank. Place a jack under the tank with a block of wood and slowly lower the tank down. Don't forget to unplug the wiring harness too. The possibility is high that the seam is leaking. A few aftermarket companies offer the tank. Do some shopping though, prices are different with the different companies.
