98 chev astro van wipers work once in a while. What to do .

With wiper switch on check voltage at wiper harness, if you have voltage then reverse test light at battery and probe wiper housing if test light light up with screw driver ground wiper housing to mounting bolt, if wiper work bad ground, of test light did not light up when testing wiper motor housing for ground and you did have voltage at wiper motor replace motor, it's not going to be a fuse, if fuse was bad wiper would not come on once in a while, now if no voltage any where replace wiper switch.Good luck and hope this was very helpful, thank you for using FixYa.

YOU MIGHT NEED NEW WIPER SWITCH AND OR THE WIPER SWITCH IS BY PASS,MEANNING THE SWITCH IS ON ALLTHE TIME, YOU CAN ALSO USE A TOGGLE SWITCH, THIS WILL THEN BE THE WIPER SWITCH, UP WIPER ON, AND DOWN WIPER OFF

93 lumina van wiper motor starts but wont shut off

The routine (resistor) that shuts off the wipers and parks them correctly is in the wiper motor, not the switch. I assume your switch is good since you make no complaints about its movement. One thing to check before replacing wiper motor is to loosen the wiper arms, and let the motor park itself in what you feel is the bottom of windshield position. Now align the wipers and retighten.

If these get positioned wrong after, say, a frozen morning, this will affect parking of wipers since motor "park" is no longer in synch with wiper arm "park."

Otherwise, if wiring and positioning are correct, I recommend replacing the wiper motor itself.
