Question about 1998 Ford Taurus
The tranny will not work. You can't convert vss gear driven signal to oss signal. The PCM will read it different. The gear driven vss is 8000 pulses per mile and the oss is 32000 pulses per mile. In lay man terms.. the speedometer will the the PCM the car is going 110 mph when your really only going 20mph. The limited will kick in and the car will start to shut down. There is no gear in the transmission to drive the vss. However, if you have no other options but to use the transmission... Hummingbird electronics offers a pulse generator that can convert the vss to oss for $125 dollars. You can also buy a limited from radio shack to limit the pulses from 32000 to 8000. It won't help the speedometer and it won't read right but at least the.car won't shut down on ya. I hope I helped.

WELL VAN TRANSMISSION IN CAR CAN BE THE SAME TRANSMISSION BUT HOOK UPS MIGHT BE DIFFERENT.THE PCM KNOWS IT NOT RIGHTS TRANSMISSION.BECAUSE 1998 TO 2000 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CIRCUIT AND SHIFT CIRCUIT CAN BE DIFFERENT THATS WHEN YOU HAVE SHIFT PROBLEMS.YOU SHOULD HAVE PLASTIC GEAR INSIDE OUTPUT SHAFT.YOU SHOULD SEE TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR WIRES AND WIRES FOR TORQUE CONVERTER AND SHIFT CONTROL VALVES.YOU CAN TRY HOOK IT UP BUT PCM GOING TO GIVE YOU PROBLEMS.
