THIS IS DUE TO AN INTERMITTENT FAULT. POSSIBLE CAUSES ARE ENDLESS. THE ONLY REAL WAY OF DIAGNOSING THIS IS THE TECHNICIAN WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE WHEN THE LAMP IS LITE OR THEY COULD HOOP UP A REMOTE RECORDER WHILE YOU DRIVE AND IT WILL RECORD THE EVENT WHEN IT HAPPENS.

We have a '03 Pontiac Grand Am GT, 3.4L (3400).

If the resistor bypass doesn't solve it, another remedy could be a plug-in type engine block heater- I mean plug into household current. It keeps the engine coolant warm in the block. Every other car here in Montana uses one-works great for those below zero nights. When the wife pulls into work, just run an extension line and keep the car plugged in till time to go. Other than that, IDK, sounds like you've covered it pretty well as far as solutions.

My check engine light keeps coming on, I have a 2005 grand prix. They change the catalyic converter and the cam shaft...whts next?

There's no point just swapping parts, take the car to a garage with a decent diagnostic system and they can scan the car for codes and confirm exactly what is wrong.

04 sunfire drove perfect all day but just as I was pulling in my parking lot it started shaking real bad....what could be wrong?

Sounds like an engine misfire, One of the cylinders isn't firing correctly, You could have a bad spark plug or injector, but that year sunfire were known for faulty ignition coils. If the shake was severe enough it would indicate a coil issue because 2 out of you 4 cylinders aren't firing properly (a coil controls spark to 2 cylinders at a time). To be sure have it checked out at a garage, if the check engine light is on have it scanned at a large parts retailer (usually for free) or at a locate reliable garage. It would better determine the cause of the shaking.

When excelerating my car starts to **** until I get to a steady speed then it runs just fine. I've already replaced the filters but the garage still can't find anything wrong. Thanks for your help.

Is the check engine or service engine soon light illuminated? If so, what trouble codes were found.
Per your description it sounds as though you may have an engine missfire condition in from the ignition system.
Is this a 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder engine.
Good luck

The od light keeps coming on and flashing but took to garage and computer says nothing wrong also after that happens then the seveice engine soon light comes on not to go out until reset computer by way of...

You might want to take your truck to another shop, when the od light is flashing, that's telling you there is some thing wrong with a sensor from your transmission, needs to be checked right or could cause major damage to your transmission, at the same time they can check the service engine light, that would be an engine sensor not putting out a good signal and the computer pick it up, if both light's are off now wait till one or both come on there won't be ant code's stored, hope this was very helpful.

My service engine soon light came on in my 1999 pontiac grand am. stays on wont go off

Unfortunately, the majority of recurrent Check Engine episodes eventually lead to some professional repair time. The most common problems that trigger the light are emission control malfunctions. The emission control system is what your car uses to try to keep our air a little cleaner. To do this, it employs dozens of sensors, valves, flaps, heated wires and probably some fairy dust. Every car made in the last 20 years has at least one oxygen sensor (we saw a Toyota that had four of them recently), and they don't last forever. If they go, expect around $300 per sensor in replacement costs.

But don't throw your wallet in the street just yet. There are also plenty of little things that can make the Check Engine light come on, and many are easily corrected.

I suggest scanning your vehicle for details about your CODE FAULT.

Hope this help (remember rated and comment this).
