Question about 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

Temp hand is sticking, it is saying it is hot and its not. When you start it up after 8hrs. it still says 210F.

The stepper motor (servo) which drives the temp gauge has failed and needs to be replaced. There are services that repair instrument clusters, look on Ebay.

2000 Gallant. Installed new radiator, thermostat, and water pump. Why does temp gauge read hot when it's not?


Disconnect the temperature sending unit wire connector for the gague ( not the one for the computer ) with the key on. The temp hand should stay on cold mark. Next, ground the wire and the temp hand should go to full hot indicating the gague and wiring to it are ok. If ok suspect a faulty temp sending sensor if the cooling system is full and properly bled

My 2000 gmc pick up only blows luke warm air. Temp gauge show only around 170. I have clean the compartment air filter.


That temp gauge reading worries me. You might want to exchange the thermostat for a new 190F-210F thermostat (195F is good for summer, 210F really helps during winter). It should be a quick procedure.

We put a new thermostat and heat sensor in the other day.also bled the system.still running hot 210 degrees help


the tempersature you say is 210,is that what the guage says,or have you got a thermometer to verify,because,with antifreeze in the system,the most efficient temp for the engine is 90C OR 210F,WHATS THE PROBLEM IF ITS NOT BOILING OVER ???(QUESTION)

System flushed, coolant changed , this is when Venture started to run hot. Changed thermostat, mechanic says I need pink/red Xerex Coolant to keep it from running hot, another mechanic says Dex coolant is...


get the antifreeze that mixes with any color you should be fine also make sure you bleed the system get the air out of the cooling system there should be a petcock to bleed it with,crank let get operating temp.open petcock till steady stream runs out close pc your done.

My heater fan turns on before the car has warmed up. It blows cold air? Any ideas why?


After warmup it still blows cold, or only when cold? Normally the fan will operate independently of engine temp except in some climate controlled vehicles. As long as it blows warm air after engine is at temp that's a good thing. the heater uses hot water from the engine. Obviously the heater can't be warm before the engine is. If it's cold after the engine is hot, there are vacuum controlled "motors" on top of the heater box under the dash that move doors that control heat. Either one of the control motors or one of the doors have stuck or failed. Many also have a control valve on one of the heater hoses under the hood as well. If the engine comes up to temp then the thermostat is good (should be at about 210f) Only remaining item is the core itself which may be internally or externally obstructed.
All this being said, if it's good when the engine is up to temp, leave it alone...it's fine.

What the normal temperature operating range indicated on the temp gauge?


195 degrees is the typical high end on the thermostat (when the thermostat opens), so the temp gauge should read a max of 195 degrees, give or take a few degrees. Some people replace their thermostat with a lower temp one, such as a 180 degree one. Then the gauge will read lower (approx 180 degree max). So the range is typically from cold at start to just under 200 degrees.

Upper radiator hose is sucking shut on a 2001 hyundai santa fe


Hello,

Have you had work done to the cars coolant system recently - (i.e. thermostat replaced, anti-freeze change, hose repair?)

If so your problem is due to air trapped inside your coolant system and not allowing the vehicle to achieve proper flow of anti freeze.

Do you notice your temp gauge jumping around from lets say 190-210F, then to 220-250F?

However, I am not an expert but do know a bit about cars. We own a Hyundai Accent and after they repaired a hose we seen the same thing happen. The tech at the garage told us to purge the system and all will be well again. Please remember NEVER open the radiator cap while the car is HOT! This could result in serious burns.
