I reversed battery cables when replacing the battery on a 2002 Tacoma. Now nothing happens when I turn the key (no lights or starter). Checked both fuse boxes (underhood and in dash), no blown fuses but don't know how to check relays. Did I cook the computer or could it be something more simple?

you (at the least ) blew 1 or many fuses,
you do that and risk blowing up a fortune on electronics.
its not 60 Chev, that is so forgiving...
fuses: (ijm at alldata.com looking)
fuse 19, 80amps engine bay fuse box. bam?
are the head lights dead, they work all the time, even keys in pockets.
are they part of nothing.
then... that means... fuse 19 is bad.
open the fuse box in the engine bay see those.
they will all be dead, and 19 toast.
i just use a voltemeter to find which are blown.
starting there, then working to the cab box.
0v bad, key on
I would check the maxi fuses (big ones) in the underhood fuse box first. If you find one blown and replacement fixes the problem,be sure to get the alternator checked for proper operation,if the cables
were reversed the alt. often is "wounded".
Turn the key to run, truck in park, and jump the starter from the small wire to the large wire on the starter solinoid. If it starts, all is good and your fussible link is probably right. The fusable links are located in the engine compartment, under a cover on the firewall.
IF U REVERSED POLARITY, UR PROBABLY GOING TO HATE URSELF!!! RED WIRE IS ALWAYS + AND WHITE WIRE IS ALWAYS -. WHEN THERE IS A BLACK AND RED WIRE PRESENT, RED IS ALWAYS + AND BLACK IS -. CONNECT UR BATTERY WIRES PROPERLY AND HOPEFULLY EVERYTHING WILL WORK FINE, IF NOT, CHECK UR FUSES...IF THEY'RE GOOD, THEN THE COMPUTER MOST LIKELY GOT FRIED...
disconnect negative battery cable.remove upper & lower steering column covers.disconnect switch wiring connector. turn key to acc. release retaining pin through small hole in the side with a paperclip, slide key & cylinder out.re-assemble in reverse order.
