They make a tool for doing this, but it can be done without it. Use a square bar of something similar to place on the bolts to the water pump, using a large cresent, hold the pulley from turning and turn the large nut the direction of travel (same way the pulley turns). It's easier with the belt on.

Fan clutch remove blazer

You have to remove the clutch assembly to remove the fan from it, as the fan bolts are on the engine side of the clutch. To remove the clutch, you need a special tool. There is very little room to get at this stuff, so you are advised to remove the radiator first to avoid damage.

Disconnected battery on 02 chevy trailblazer, now the clutch fan is not working and is new. can anyone help me??

An electric fan? Or a mechanical clutch fan? Clutch fans are not related to battery (no power needed) They have internal thermostats that "lock" up when hot and release when not. Hope this helps.

I am trying to remove the bolt for the fan clutch assembly on a 97 chevy blazer.

  1. 1 Remove the fan and clutch assembly from the fan's pulley. The assembly attaches to the pulley with several bolts on the circumference of the pulley. To remove the bolts, position an open-end wrench over each bolt and turn each bolt in a counterclockwise direction while grasping one of the fan's blades to prevent the fan from turning with the bolt.
  2. Step 2 Pull the fan and clutch assembly away from the engine, then lift the assembly out of the engine's compartment.
  3. Step 3 Remove the bolts which hold the fan to the clutch. The bolts are located on the back of the fan, and can be removed with a open-end wrench.
  4. Step 4 Place the fan and clutch assembly on a flat surface with the clutch facing up, then pull the clutch straight up to disengage it from the fan.

I put on a new clutch fan and do not know how to reset it to the thermos stat

Clutch fans don`t need to set, they just screw onto the water pump, the heat from water pump travels into it to turn it on.

Ac clutch replacement on a 2002 chevrolet blazer

if the "hold-in" coil for the compressor shaft is good, take a "butterfly" impact wrench (due to space limitations), then remove shaft nut and very carefully put nut on shaft loose and rap the end of the shaft with light forward pressure applied to clutch, it sometimes works this way, otherwise you'll need to rent an A/C clutch removal tool at a parts store, but remember be very careful how hard you rap shaft and do it with something like hard plastic/wood

you can buy a puller kit for the AC clutch for about $35.00 the bearing is about $25.00 you might be able to do it without removing it from the engine saving your freon.
Belt tensioners just unscrew. They are also inexpensive
