Hi!!
Your vehicle has a recall from the manufacturer, Jeep Owner's have complained that their vehicle starts acting up and then suddenly everything seems ok, but then when they least expect it, the vehicle dies. Some time starts right up and other you have to wait 20-30 min. to start it up. People starts replacing all kinds of ignition and fuel system parts but the problem does not go away. Click on the following link to find out more about it. Although this TSB was originally issued for newer vehicles, it has been extended for older vehicles as well. Jeep owners can contact Chrysler about the stalling problems at 1-800-992-1997 (Recall) Or NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2008/05/jeep_recall.html
and then find and read under "NEWS", other links about other recall info

You are lucky to find about this before spending a few hundred dollars on parts not needed.
Good Luck! Don't forget to rate this post!!!

Check for a good spark at the plugs ,if ok check fuel pressure and fuel flow. fuel pressure should be around 300 kpa, Flow around 500 ml, in 30 seconds.

Check for intake leaks, intake hose leaks, check mass air flow sensor.
02 sensors will keep setting off a lean code until the air problem is fixed.

Fuel is flowing from the tank to the engine, but will not start. Engine will start if fuel is provided through the air intake port at the air filter.

check fuel filter and fuel pump,if the filter clugged change it, if pump doesnt work change both pump and filter.

97 Jeep Wrangler sport- Cranks, will not

Fuel flow. Either simply, a blocked fuel line (debris / filter / fouled gas) or an electronic issue. Ever let this Jeep run bone dry on gas? Hopefully not, as doing so can draw a lot of crud into your fuel lines from the bottom of the tank. Electronically, if part of the Jeep "brain" has gone bad, there may not be any fuel being routed to the engine. This most likely needs a Jeep mechanic to repair.

I have a 1993 4.0 jeep wrangler. I put in a new fuel pump, The jeep still has a hard time starting and when it dose it stops running after 15 sec, I checked the fuel filter and it was ok?

Hi There,

Had the same thing going on with my '91 Wrangler. After checking what seemed like every other component, I finally pulled the injector rack.

I found all six to be gummed up to some degree. Cleaned them up. put on new o-rings and reassembled.

Fired right up and stayed that way

2002 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 When Driving the Engine Dies

You need to do a code check. if no codes, check fuel supply (pump and filter) Quick way to isolate problem to either fuel or spark is to spray carb cleaner into intake while cranking. If engine starts, then it's fuel...If not, then I'd suspect spark...common problem there is crank sensor, but don't replace it without testing first!!!

2000 jeep wrangler stopped running

First, re-check your repair to make sure it has not come apart. Check to see if the pump is running and pump relay is working. I'm pretty sure that your filter is incorperated into the fuel pressure regulator on top of the pump assembly..If the filter is not on the frame rail near the left rear wheel, that's where you will find it.check that you have proper flow and pressure. Your problem sounds like a possible plugged filter.
Don't forget that aside from fuel, you need spark as well. Make a quick check there to make sure you're not looking for the wrong problem. An easy way to check is to squirt carb cleaner into the throttle body while cranking. If engine starts, problem is on the fuel side.

1993 JEEP WRANGLER FUEL PROBLEM

Umm i cant imagine what too much gas sounds like, but have you checked your fuel pressure regulator, and their respective Vacuum Hoses.
If that doesnt settle anything, check your ground. located adjacent to your battery, as well as your engine usually on the rear portion of the valve body is where you'll find it.

Thirdly, clean and inspect your cam position sensor. Sorry im posting several months later, but i see you never got your responses. Hope ya get this one.
