Question about 2006 BMW 3 Series
Air bag light is on, dealer says it is the control unit. i have sourced a second hand one from the same model which has not had the airbags deployed, can i fit it myself as it seems fairly simple. will it reset itself or will the dealer have to do this?. what precautions if any do i need to observe when changing the unit. many thanks, jeff.
Hi air bags are very delicate things its very dangerous to any one fitting them as any sudden bangs and electrical surges may set them off so please be carefull if trying this your self . there are 2 thing to do befor doing this disconnect the battery and the fuses to your air bag before changing it
no it will not reset it self when fitted but you can take it to your local garage to be reset in fact you maybe better of taking the hole thing down there to be fitted and they will reset it for you too
most garages wll do this now you dont have to take it to the main dealers to sort out this problem the cost at a dealer doing this is very high but for your local garage it should be half the price for the same job
i hope this helps you sort your problem out
thanks all the best to you
