SOURCE: my truck acts like it is starving for gas

Hi,
Replace the fuel filter as the fist action. Often this is charged for - but not done on a service, and if blocked will starve the engine. Just done mine after 3 years - would not believe the cr@p that was in it.

Try again.

If not much difference, check the fuel pump in the tank, and any cables to it.
If this fails, the engine needs to **** the fuel more - and can lead to starvation problems too.

Change the air filter every year, as this is cheap and will give you better MPG anyway.

SOURCE: Ford F-150 starting problem

replace the fuel regulator, its about a $50.00 part and takes about 15 minutes to change, but first relieve the fuel pressure and you can do it in a couple of ways, hitting the fuel pump shut off swith(inertia switch)until the red button pops up,but remember to reset it when done, located either behind the passengers side kick panel or under the carpet in the middle under the dash then start it to run it out of gas which there will still be a little bit in the lines,...or drain it at the valve to check for pressure it looks like a valve stem for a tire.

SOURCE: 1989 ford f150 4x4 with

ive seen this before with a 1991 F-150 5.0 litre,so i will tell you what ive experienced and let you decide what to do..the idle air bypass solenoid gets built up with carbon and it runs out of the air mixture.take it out and clean it with carb cleaner, incase you dont know what it looks like its round like an electric motor with a square plate hooked to it with the corners cut off,and it hooks to the throttle body. And ive seen the fuel regulator go bad as well..

SOURCE: ford f150 fuel pumps wont work when turn on

When you turn the key to on (not starting) is the "check engine" light on? The trucks computer controls the fuel pump. If the check engine light is not on then the computer is not turning on. I had the same problem a couple weeks ago in a car. I found a wire harness next to the battery that had pulled apart. It was the ground for the computer. You should check any ground wires around the battery and ground wires around the computer. Also listen when you turn the key on you should hear the relay near the computer "click" on.

If you know where the code reader hookup is under the hood (near the firewall either side) then you can manually turn the fuel pump on with the key on. To test the fuel pump. Just ground the fuel pump wire.

SOURCE: How do you disable an ignition kill switch

I was told the Kill switch is the cause of my Ford F150 not starting. It sounds like it wants to turnover but there's no fuel going to my motor, fuel line is dry and they can't hear the fuel pump turning on.

2005 ford f150 won't stay started without me on the gas

check you Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve (EGR) its probably full of carbon and has stuck open allowing too much exhaust gases into the intake manifold starving the engine of oxygen and killing it but when you add gas it stays running because of physics and it is adding more fuel and sucking more clean air. If the EGR is dirty clean it with some carb cleaner if that don't work replace it. also check your Idle Air Control valve (IAC) these also tend to get dirty but not like the EGR valve. if it is clean I would still replace due to the fact that it is an small electric motor that is working all the time.

Fuel engine stops then start up in 1 min

You probably have an electronic ignition system to go with those fuel injectors. It sounds like it runs just long enough to empty the fuel out of the injectors, which means there might be a vacuum problem. I'm a carburetor person myself. Are you sure it sound like it NEEDS gas or could it be flooding?

Engine starves for fuel after running about 50 miles or so...

Has Neon do same, I ran fuel at low level, on hot day, ran engine until it started to act up & threw a fuel pressure gauge on it. Was at approx 5 psi. Cold next morning, 48-50 psi. Always hot day about 30-40 miles into work in morning, o.k. Sit in hot sun all day & would happen 3-4 times on way home. Sit and let cool, 20 minutes or so & go again for a while. Cool day, no problem. Change pump I would.

You need to check spark plugs/wires/distributor cap.
Also good idea to check/replace fuel filter/air filter. It might be also bad fuel pump.
Good Luck
