Question about 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander

Open Question

2006 Mitsubishi Outlander -- the cigarette lighter is now hanging out of the panel. The socket it goes into is loose behind. I can see it, but there's no way to get at it. How do I take the panel apart to get access to the socket, to re-secure it? I'm handy, but these panels are always a mystery. Dave H

SOURCE: I use my cigarette lighter

Hi!!
On the relay box look for the Acc. Socket fuses #23 -10A and #25 - 15A. To fix the socket, remove the Center Lower Panel using a flat tool or a butter knive to make the clips on each corner pop out, the socket can be re-tightened, they usually do not get damaged. once fixed, snap the Center Lower Panel back into the dashboard.
Check the following diagram.

SOURCE: radio and cigarette lighter

Funny you should mention this! I had the same problem in Aug. First, there is another fuse for this circuit in the underhood fuse box - a 15A one. It will probably be blown. Try a new fuse there but it will probably blow again. The reason it will have blown is probably because the retaining nut at the back of the lighter has come off allowing the unit to short out. To fix; the complete lower dash has to be removed in order to re-install the lighter (which is a *****)!!! Then you can replace the fuse. I was in travel mode at the time so I had a dealer fix it for $77. ! Good luck.

SOURCE: My accessory sockets (cigarette lighter) are not

It's fuse # 25 a 15 amp. There is a relay in this circuit and the ignition switch must be on or accessory. By the way, sometimes what you are trying to plug in just doesn't make good contact.

My cigarette lighter and accessory sockets don't work. I used a fan heater that you plug in and it blew and my sockets no longer work. My fuse in the inside fuse panel is good. How do I get the sockets out...

if you plugged the fan into the cig socket you may have spread it out to far but the sockets unscrew from behind i donot remember if the panel pops off and there may multiple fuses as well

Cigarette lighter

First check the fuse... then try using a test light to check for power in the socket. If there is power replace the lighter coil... if not look for a loose wire behind the socket... Hope this helps...;-)
