SOURCE: NO REVERSE FORWARD GEARS WORK. IS THERE A BAND AJUSTMENT FOR REVERSE ?IF I PUSH IT OFF IT WORKS BUT SLIPS

I have a 2000 Honda Accord EX, it shifts normal on forward with no problem. Also when the car is cold the reverse gear works just fine, but when the car runs for about few minutes the reverse gear will not work. It will seem as if it wants to go but then if feels like its neutral.

SOURCE: 1992 grand prix transmission slip in reverse

Slow, slipping or no reverse: “lo-reverse” clutches are worn out, fluid leak in the reverse apply circuit. It is possible to remedy a fluid problem by removing the checkball from its cage in the case in the trans may help (must remove valvebody), or adding a high-viscosity additive such as Lucas Transmission additive or other seal restorer product. May also have worn boost valve (can replace in the pan).

Thank you for using fixya and good luck

Auto transmission won't go in reverse

if all forward gears work properly and engauge in the correct position then your going to have the reverse band adjusted in the trans or rebuilt if your lucky and have lower milage the adjustment works alot of times i do suggest you have it done at a tranny shop as to not over adjust and they can also do a pressure test at the same time

Band adjustment, how many turns out on 1987 300zx

Transmission Bands are adjusted when you rebuild a trans

They do not wear enough to need adjustment

Two things happen

If you turn the screw the wrong way, parts fall inside the trans
& you can't get it back together

Next-- if you need to adjust the band or bands, it is time for a rebuild, as many many parts are worn, long before the slightest band wear.

Automatic transmission service adjustments for 2000 mazda bravo

There should not need to be any "adjustments" for a normal fluid and filter service for your vehicle, unless you have replaced some parts of your transmission that requires adjustment such as the gearshift lever, intermediate and overdrive band, throttle cable, or transmission range sensor/switch.

With that said, the band adjustment specs are "Tighten the band adjusting screw to 10 Ft.Lbs. (14 N.m.) then back off 2 full turns. While holding band adjusting scew stationary, tighten the locking nut to 35-45 Ft.Lbs. (48-61 N.m.)

All forward gears work excep the reverse any ideas?

It sounds like you have the Auto box and in it you have 2 bands 1 is the forward and the other one is the Reverse ,so if your forward gears are working ok then the fluids ok so its either the reverse Pump or the Band which drives the reverse gear is worn or buggered .
So your answer is to go to the AUTO MATIC shop and get them to check it out{ IT MIGHT BE THEY CAN ADJUST IT IN TIME IF NOT TO BAD}. AND THAT WILL SAVE YOU A LOT OF MONEY.

1997 Dodge Caravan Sport. I was driving normal then it quit pulling. Now have 3 forward gears no more than 8 miles an hour. No reverse. Dropped trans pan small metal on magnet.Fluid looked ok. Changed...

The correct fluid to put in a 1997 van is (ATF-3). Sounds like you need to make adjustment on both the forward and reverse bands of the transmission to correct your problem. The kickdown band (front) forward is located at the top (outside) of the transaxle near the front. To adjust the band, loosen the lock nut approximately 5 turns. With the lock nut loose the adjusting screw should turn freely in case. Tighten the adjustment screw with an inch lb. torque wrench to 72 in-lbs. Then back the screw out 2 1/4 turns, hold the screw in place and tighten the lock nut to 35 ft-lbs. Then after removeing the transmission pan and filter the low-reverse band is located next to the valve body. Loosen the lock nut 5 turns so the adjustment screw is free. Turn the adjustment screw in to 41 in-lbs, then back the screw out 3 1/2 turns. Hold the adjustment screw and tighten the lock nut 10 ft-lbs. Install transmission pan/with gasket and refill transaxle to proper level. Test drive van. Be safe and block the rear wheels before you raise the van and try to work under it. Hope this will help you.

How do you adjust the bands on my transmission

Unless you have the correct equipment and no how you carnt do the job your self as the pan has to come off the body valve assy has to come off. then the band adjustment gauge has to go on and adjust the forward and reverse band to correct setting ..and then check out the body valves in the block and make sure all pistons and slide's are working and not sticking when under pressure from forward piston assy ...and then rebuild and refit with new gasket to bady valve assy and pan... refill with Auto Trand fluid and try and hope it's ok..
But as i said you need the correct equipment and know how.

Sorry mate
