Doubt it as the fault suggests you need to look into the range sensor. If similar to Renault there is a switch on the gearbox that senses where the select lever is (at the gearbox end). If the display is wrong then the sensor needs looking at and either it will need to be adjusted into a set position by moving it, or perhaps the connector to it or wiring to/from it have a fault.

You will have to tow the car out to a auto transmission specialist as the gears have seized in the gear box. You will cause more damage if you over ride the engine controls. The torque converter must be stuck.

My Mazda 6 auto transmission wont start. Dashboard wont display gear selection. What could be the problem?

It could be. The inhibitor switch is like a park/neutral switch, part of the starting circuit.

Hi John, I suggest having a diagnostic scan carried out on the vehicle. It seems that the inhibitor switch may not be correctly installed. If there are other electronic management faults they should show up on the scan print out. Regards John

How to bypass the starter relay and put it to a push button to start the car

A wire run from the starter solenoid postive (+) terminal to a button somewhere on the dash panel is all that is required You need to connect the other side of the press button to a power source under the dash. The fuse box is a good place to start. Make sure your wiring is protected against shorts by a fuse. If the vehicle is an auto, don't do this. Get the inhibitor switch replaced instead.

Car will not start all electrical components comes on but will not turn over

If battery connections are sound , try the inhibitor switch (Nuteral selector Sw on gearbox) ie Car must be in nuteral before engine will crank. You can slightly rock gear selector but be CAREFUL ! do not select drive.

sometimes there are two temp sensors, one for the gauge inside and one for the engine management. You have possibly replaced the wrong one. Have a look to see if there is another, if so disconnect one and see if gauge drops in car. if it does its the other that needs replaced.

Transmission problem

contact your local parts retailer for the right auto oil.
as for not going int gears you may have to adjust the the inhibitor switch on the auto if the switch is not in the right spot you wont get the gear you want.
for more info on the procedure let me no and ill see if i can sort it out for you it may be easier to contact a dealer and get them to photo copy the procedure out of the work shop manual
