If he uses a 1/2 inch socket driver, he may be able to snap the heads off the bolts. Otherwise, the bolts will have to be drilled out.

How to drop fuel tank on 1988 surburban

Drain the gas tank. I didn't have a lift so I used a floor jack under neath the gas tank. I used a piece of plywood on top of floor jack that would fit between tank straps. Take the fill tube loose, take fuel lines and electrical connectors loose. Take tank straps loose, you may have to drop tank a little to reach some connections. If I remember correctly the fuel pump is in the middle of tank. I don't know if you would want to cut hole in floor of surburban to reach pump? I don't have any info about cutting that hole, if you try that, that is your responsibility.

My 99 cavalier is leaking from the top of my fuel tank... one of the bolt that holds the strap is striped... how do i remove the bolt with out making a spark... what would leak on the top of the fuel tank

most likely the leak is the tank its self, dirt sets on top of the tank holding moister on the top of the tank causing little rust pin holes. did you strip the bolt head or the threads? if just the bolt head they make a strip out socket you can get them from your local snap-on tool truck or some sears stores keep them and all can order them, but if you striped the threads you will have to cut the bolt head off and i suggest you have a pro do it for obvious reasons.

How do i remove the gas tank from my 1999 chevrolet trail blazer

Depending on how rusted your Blazer is. You either remove the bolts from the straps or cut the straps off and replace both. Get a 2x4 and place of lift jack. The tanks should be about empty or a pain to lift. Lift the jack up to take some of the weight off the tank. Try to unbolt straps. If no luck. Get out a hand power grinder. Start cutting. That's about the only way I know. We removed my son's fuel tank off a 1988 GMC pickup last Sunday. Everything was rusted BAD The straps had to be cut. We didn't have any replacements. So we used 3 ATV orange racket straps. Worked fine so far.

Must replace the fuel pump on a 1988 gmc sierra 2500 series pickup truck . This is a plow truck and very rusted. I don't wish to drop the tank as it is very cold and snowy here right now, and have been...

If you look between the cab and the box you should be able to see the fuel lines and at least part of the fuel pump top. It might be just as easy to cut the bolts holding the box on the frame and jack it up. If you do don't forget to unplug the tail light harness under the driver's side of the box at the back and there is a ground strap where the fill pipe is located. It doesn't come off when you unbolt the fill pipe. You can bolt the box back on with some threaded rod. Hope this helps.

Changing gasoline pump but tank screws lose but dont come out , they keep turning..its a Bonneville 1995...does it have a bult on top...how do I take tank down??

The nuts on top are usually held with a weld, but not uncommon for them to break loose and spin. Should be 2 straps, and one bolt at one end of each. You may have to get wrench, or vise grips up in there to stop nut from turning. Lots of penetrating spray on them, they will probably be pretty rusted at the threads.

Install a gas tank in a 94 toyota corolla

Raise the car.

Loosen the fuel filler neck rubber hose clamp. Remove hose from tank. Insert tubing into tank and siphon out all fuel.

Undo the brake line bracket blots and move brake lines out of the way.

Undo the exhaust to muffler flange bolts. Exercise extra care if they appear rusted as they will shear off.

Remove rear seat and undo fuel pump cover. Undo fuel pump bolts.
'
Disconnect the fuel and return lines.

Support tank with a jack. Undo tank strap bolts. Remove straps.

Lower tank and remove fuel pump.

Drop tank and slide out over exhaust.

Replace fuel pump

Just take those bolt loose, and your filler neck should be nothing more than like a radiator hose with clamps, get the clamp loose, get the tank loose from the filler tube, watch you wiring, don't let the tank fall down and damage the wiring, sometimes you can reach up in there and unplug it, sometimes there is enough slack to drop the tank down to the ground. Once the tank is disconnected the should be a metal ring with a few ridges on it, take a chisel, of a flat head screw driver and hammer and knock the ring loose, then you can get the fuel pump out.

Fuel pump - 2003 Pontiac Grand Am

2003 Grand Am GT,You have to drop the fuel tank, remove heat shield, remove all lines, electrical plug ins, then you are ready to do straps,be sure to go get extra nut and bolts for straps (2) of them had to cut off old ones, once straps are off depending on how much gas is in the tank used jack to lower tank, fuel pump was a twist off with locking mechanisms on top of tank, used a rubber malet and screw driver to loosen, pull out after diconnecting plug ins etc, replace blue plug in for harness to fit new pump, was recommended since it could corrode, lifted tank back up connected wires, lines etc,put key in on position 3-4 times for pump to pump, car started 1st time,my first fuel pump took my son and I 2 1/2 hours, new pump $250.00 wire harness $15.00 and two new nuts and bolts $3.25
