Does your rear window brake light work (if it has one)? Don't know about S60's. I overlooked mine for a month.

2006 Volvo XC90 AWD V8 with H7 halogen headlights always displays 'headlight bulb failure' warning even though my headlights are both working fine. How do I fix this?

Try to check the bulb on the light unit the fault is given, checking the connector,or even renewing the bulb, probably the resistance of the bulb is down in bright but can not noticed. It had happened to a customer of mine on a BMW 528i ,even the lights were working fine,I renewed the faulty stated by the vehicle ECU and then the warning on the dash gone.

On my 2001 s60 the dash display is reading position light bulb failure. What is this referring to, all the main lights seem to be oklay

Check the tail marker lights, the rear fog lights or the signal lights - one or more is burnt out.

Bulb failure, position light

Bulb failure, position light means you have a burned out light bulb somewhere. I had the same problem on my 2002 s60. It looked like all the lights were working but I found out that there are several bulbs in the tail lights, so even though the tail lights were working there was in fact a burned out bulb. Look at the bulbs a bit closer and you will probably find one thats bad.

Bulb Failure position option

the position bulbs are located in the trunk and you access them the same way you access the tail lights im not sure what the bulb does but its a 10 dollar fix. FYI when you replace the bulb the message center will still tell you that it has failed you have to take it to the dealer to have them to erase the message (i just left mine it seemed a waist of money)

Reset prosedures for volvos

Ok when you move the key to start the car. you need the following definitions.

pos 0 equals car off
pos 1 equals acessory position
pos 2 equals run position (NOT START)
pos 3 equals start position

check your drivers information module, and see that your triip display is in trip 1 (T1)

then put your car into position 1. push and HOLD the trip reset meter. WHILE HOLDING the reset button, rotate the key to position 2. Hold the reset button until you see the triangle in the dash flash yellow. Once this starts flashing remove your finger from the reset button. Shut the car off, verify light is out. repeat once if necessary.

I have a fault - parkling bulb failure

I believe the parking lights are the lights that come on when you move the headlight switch to the middle setting. My S60 has 3 settings for headlights, daytime running lights (off or 9 o clock position), parking light (middle or 10:30 position), and lights on (top or 12 o clock position). Put your light switch into the middle position and check the lights from the front of you car. They are usually located on the side of the headlights and are orange. If the fault is on, you have a bulb out (most likely) or loose wire connection (not as likely).

Position Light on Volvo S60

Not sure but maybe you should verify rear position lights located in the trunk.
There are two bulbs on each side, even if you replaced one of them the other one could be burned.

Message board states "Bulb Failure Position Light: What is this>

Hello mtsign

This a problem with "A" bulb, no real way to find the problem one unless you test the output of each bulb. You will have to replace them one or two at a time. Start with the rear bulbs as they get the most use i.e. brake lights. Sounds strange but, over time a bulb will lose it's strength and the computer picks it up as a bad bulb and sends the message, quite common with these vehicles. I would use quality replacement bulbs or you could be chasing around weak cheaper bulbs for a while. Hope this helps and good luck.
