SOURCE: 2001 astro chevy van 4.3 engines need to set the timing

The distributor in that engine can only be installed in one position. The hold down is built onto the distributor meaning when it is installed and the engine runs the computer is responsible for the timing. The distributor will move a little but won't correct major timing errors.

SOURCE: How do I remove the dashboard from my 2000 Chevy Astro Van?

Paul is right you can go to radio shack or autozone schucks or any parts store and ask for the removal tool it cost $20.00 tops. Trust me you don't want to undo the dash as the air bag could detonate if you shorted the two wires that can control it and it could kill you.

SOURCE: 2000 astro van won't start

What you have to do is check and see if you have fuel pressure. You have to remove the engine cover to check it.If you don`t have a pressure tester then remove the air cleaner hose to the engine and spray it with carb.cleaner or brake cleaner. If it starts for a few seconds then it is more than likely a fuel pump.If it does not start then you have to check for spark at the spark plugs.Make sure you check more than one plug.If no spark then you have to check the distributor cap and rotor.Make sure the rotor is good and cap also.Things that can cause no spark are the ignition module, coil, and cap and rotor.Hope this helps.Good luck.

SOURCE: reset service engine light on

You don't reset it, you resolve what is causing it to register an error. You need to pull the codes from the computer and proceed with testing based on those clues.

Problem is we have a 2000 Chevy Astro van that does not start on certain days if it is snowing it starts to misfire and hesitate, the check engine light flashes on and off. put in a new distributor, cap...

On mine I had a control modular next to the coil that was bad and didn't show up on diagnostic. The guys at Auto Zone told me to pull it and they could test it and on the 7th test it failed. Unfortunately my van still died on my way into town after this, but at least I had spark this time unlike in the past.

Oil pan wont drop all bolts are out 2000 astro van

You will have to remove the engine mount bolts, there are two long ones, one on each side. Then you will have to raise the engine, probably to the point that it starts raising the van. Then the pan should come out. sometimes they need alittle help. Good luck

I just bought a 1999 chevy astro van AWD

i am not mechanic but realise logic control senses excessive rear wheel spin and transfers some torque to front wheels. try quick take off on gravel road to see which wheels dig in or have friend spot if front wheels are driving when they should be. could be simple corrosian at wiring harness. unplug and spray with contact cleaner and re connect and re try. this wont cost you anything.

I have a 2000 astro van 3.3 eng. i have the check engine light on. they put the diagnostic scanner and it tell me it is the clutch solenoide and other transmision relays. the transmision was over haul even...

It sounds like they misdiagnosed your car if they overhauled your transmission and it's still showing up with the exact same problem.

Are the codes they pulled before the overhaul and after the overhaul the exact same codes?

Location of the camshaft sensor on a 2000 chevy astro van

The sensor is in the distributor you can get it out with out pulling the distributor but its tight and has to be perfect .... pull the cap off and then the button youll see a sensor under a metal cup looking thing with a wire harness coming out of it i believe you need torks bits for the whole job if you go to any parts store and buy one then pull the cap this will make more sense.
Good luck and hope this helps.
