At 120k miles the following should have been preformed:

  • Powersteering Fluid Check
  • Steering/Front Suspension Check
  • Rear Suspension Check
  • Driveshaft Joints; Check for wear
  • Driveshaft; Check boots
  • Propeller Shaft Inspection
Also, after that at 127,500 miles a Bevel Joint inspection should also have been preformed.

My maintenance light has come on slightly over 98000 miles. About 98600 or so. I have already gotten an oil change and the timing belt was replaced last year. Is it typical that the light comes on...

The light will come on based on your mileage. I would suspect it is on telling you to replace the cam belt. Your owners manual will tell you exactly what maintenance is due at 98,000 miles.

When does this vehicle have to have tune up

owners manual should say. but car should see a mechanic every 3-5 thousand miles. that mechanic should look at your mileage and find what the manufacturer recommends being done at that time. if you do your own maintenance and you think 30k is not enough miles on the transmission oil and it still "looks clean" and you reach 150k thinking the same thing. dont call the car bad names when you are walking. save fifty bucks to spend 3-5k later on a new tranny it just doesnt make sense. if you do your own maintenance look up for that specific mileage what needs to be done. just do it. it is not too much when u do it yourself. the dealer cost money. a tune up is really not supposed to be done all at once. tune ups where more from the 50s, 60s, 70s, nowadays we use recommended service intervals. 5k service - oil and filter 10 service- oil and filter, air filter, 15k service- oil and filter, fuel filter etc 20 oil filter air 25 oil filter coolant power steering oil 30 oil filter, fuel, trans
just a example it is way off. but just treat your car right. generally less than 300 a year and car will last forever.

When you car is displaying engine system service required, what will one do?

The car computer keeps track of the number of kms/miles that was done since the last service when this light and counter was reset: according to the car computer mileage log, the car is now due for its next 'regular' service: take it to a garaged for its overdue service and they will reset the warning.

Hope it helps.

NEEDS MAINTENANCE light on at 46,666 miles

The light comes on at fairly short intervals ... even to let you know that you need an oil change. The mileage at which it comes on will depend on when it was reset last time. Here's a link to Yahoo Answers to turn the light off yourself.

The Maintenance Req indicator light is on. The car is a 2005.

That's a mileage-based indicator that is there to remind the driver that, based on the mileage on the car, some service interval has arrived. It's NOT a signal that there's been a fault or failure. Being that you have a Toyota, the typical timing service interval is every 60k miles (replacement if you have a belt, inspection if you have a chain). At that interval, the water pump, thermostat, accessory belt(s), spark plugs, timing tensioner (for a belt), and all fluids and filters are typically replaced, as well as an inspection of the brakes and suspension, and a tire rotation. It's a costly service but it's important. That's probably why your light has illuminated. Take a look in your owner's manual and look at the maintenance intervals -- you'll see what is due at this time.

Signs to look for for time to get timing belt looked at. I have just purchased a second hand Hyundai 1993 excel sprint (maual transmission) but service record doesn't show any replacement being done on...

look at mileage. the replacement of the timing belt needs to be done at 60,000 miles. you risk severe damage if this is not done. these belts costs around $300-400 to do.

The speed'o meter is showing a "tool" sign

the "tool " is refering to service work. Could be fuel related but not really the fuel filter. do you have plenty of miles between services. otherwise may be showing you that your service is due. and mileage will suffer. I am assuming you have no loss of power? No power loss no fuel filter problem. check when the next service should be done and check your air filter. another big thing that trips sensors and leads to poor mileage.

Maintenace light blinks when car turns on

I'm not quite sure on a Toyota, But on a Acura it just meant that by mileage your getting close for your 7500 mile service. then when the light stays on that means your due for the service. also check your owners manuel.

I have a Nissan Blue Bird ARX model and have changed the engine and the radiator. My issue is with the mileage. The previous mileage used to be 180,000 and the second hand engine which I've got fixed is...

leave the milage alone when you sell the car show proof with date that you did the work you'll advertise and good luck paper reciepts work well.

Next Service check

Your owners manuel will give you the desired intervals for service. It also depends if your last one was a major or minor service. Minors are usually 15,000 miles apart, with majors being at 30,000 mile intervals.
