Hi,

As there is engine light being ON, the first step is always to get the car scanned to get error codes. Those error codes would lead us the way to fix this problem. This is never recommended to keep swapping or inspecting the parts without diagnosing the error codes. You could take your car to the nearest autozone center. They would scan your car and let you know the codes. There is NO fee for the same. You could take a print out of the codes and let me know so that we could move further. You could read one of the tips i wrote about car's check engine light being on :-

http://www.fixya.com/cars/r4008552-check_engine_light_being

Let me know the codes, so that we could proceed.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I have a 1995 Chevy k1500 when I use les then half gas it is nice a smooth and idles smooth but when I go over half it loses power and when I let up the power comes back I have changed Cadillac converter...

Sounds like you are losing fuel pressure. At low rpms it will not show up. Could be a bad fuel pump. Since you have spent so much money I highly suggest replacing fuel pump. Also check for any fuel leaks. I truly believe their is a leak in vaccuum A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if this answer is helpful 1995-chevy-k1500-when-use-les-half-ynnexffib1tqqlzbw4nudlh0-2-0.jpg

1991 f 350 wont stay running7.3 deisel new injecters new glow plugs new fuel filter have to put gas on a rag and cover intake starts but u put into gear and dies

Many things to check. Wonder if this work was done to alleviate problem or problem was from doing the work.

Putting gas fumes in a 21:1 compression cylinder is sure way to ruin engine.

2 possible problems are losing your diesel fuel draw from an air leak in the fuel lines and an inoperative glow plug timer.

When you change a fuel filter you lose the vacuum lock that is in the fuel lines. Some mechanics add fuel to the new filter to remove some of the air and promote fuel draw. The O rings on the injector lines are a special type which resists petroleum products. Using cheap O rings will cause problems.

Glow plug timer-there is a power Relay to the timer and the timer itself is a type of Relay. You should hear clicking noise and lights should dim as timer provides power to the glow plugs.

Other things to check would be the Vacuum pump as Diesels work differently than gas engines and require a pump to supply Vacuum. Covering the intake suggests engine needs a Vacuum draw.

Weak fuel pump. Too weak to pressurize or draw fuel. Can be measured with pressure gauges.

Really bad rings could also cause symptoms.

Would be interested knowing what proved to be wrong.

I have 1988 Honda Shadow motorcycle vt600c balls out at high RPM's and sputters when revving engine in neutral loses power at 45 mph when I take air filter off loses power at 65 mph could this be fuel...

This sounds like a flooding carb due to a broken float, or it could be a faulty fuel pump, or a blocked fuel line, Start from where the fuel leaves the tank up to the carburettor checking the fuel hose for leaks(maybe also sucking air on pumping. Or could also be dirt in the jets thats why it goes faster when you remove the air filter. The spitting of fuel is because the motor is turning eratically thus slowing down the pumping or sucking (it's relative to the amount of revolutions the motor is turning) This should be an easy one.

My 4runner when its parked at an angle, the front being higher it begins to like loose power

the fuel pump is in the fuel tank and if you are losing power when parked uphill, it could mean the pump is struggling to supply the engine with fuel. this could be because of a fuel filter that is getting clogged, a fuel pressure regulator that is working improperly(stuck at the low pressure idle setting), or a old and tired fuel pump that isn't putting out that much pressure anymore. Have all three checked.

1995 Isuzu Rodeo intermitantly loses power at highway speed. I can speed up only by pumping the gas pedal. I replaced the fuel filter and continue to have same problem. Engine seems to shudder and lose...

Since you replaced the filter it sounds like a classic fuel pump problem. Don't know your car but best thing to do is buy a repair manual for your car like haynes or chilton's at your local AP store. Read up on it at the trouble shooting section and the RR section. Good luck.

Loss of power when driving up hill

It depends: how steep are the hills? Assuming you have the standard 4-speed or 5-speed gearbox, it's likely that the tiny engine (built for economy, not for power) is simply not generating enough torque to pull the car up in high gear. Have you tried simply downshifting? If the problem truly is the engine losing power and not just lugging due to being in too high a gear on a steep grade, you should check your fuel pressure and you may also want to check the condition of the fuel pump and feeder lines inside the gas tank. A 20 year old car will probably have some disintegration of the feeder lines, they may even be partly broken off inside the tank resulting in poor fuel flow, or disintegrated rubber may be gumming up the strainer or the pump itself. Personally, I'd replace the fuel lines, fuel filter and if low pressure still exists, the fuel pump as well.

Losing fuel

CHECK THE TORQUE ON THE FUEL FILTER CAP ON THE TOP OF THE ENGINE. SEE IF THE RUBBER O-RING IS INTACT. IF THAT CHECKS OUT THEN LOOK AT THE FUEL LINE GOING TO THE BOTTOM OF THE BOWL AT THE FILTER BASE. HOPE THIS HELPS. KEEP ME POSTED PLEASE. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA. AND THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR AN HONEST RATING. BEST OF LUCK.
