For a 94-97 single button remote:

- Flip Valet switch to ON position
- With key in ignition, turn key to ON, then OFF
- Flip the valet switch to OFF, then ON/OFF, ON/OFF (that's twice), and you should hear a confirmation siren chirp.
- Turn the ignition switch On/OFF, ON/OFF (twice), and you should get another confirmation chirp.
- You are now in programming mode. Push button on the remote, and you should hear a chirp to confirm programming completed successfully.
- After 5 seconds, the programming mode will close automatically.

The valet switch is under the dash on the drivers side some where. If you have the manual it will tell you. It will be a toggle switch or a push button. All cars are different

1996 Suzuki sidekick 1.8L engine

The 1.8 is a J18 engine. On all Suzuki J engines, the crank position sensor is under the flywheel/flex plate. Yes, that will require pulling the engine or transmission. BUT the electrical connector to it is under the intake above the starter. So you can troubleshoot the system without pulling the motor. :) With this engine, the crank sensor is only used for miss-fire detection but will throw a code if bad.

1996 suzuki sidekick has a dash light "power" that is on and I have no idea what it means. I checked the power steering fluid and it is good.

There should be a power/normal switch on the console just to the right of the automatic transmission gear selector. (Labeled A/T on my '96, but "power" in my '92.) This switch changes the shift profile of the 4 speed automatic transmission.

1996 suzuki sidekick, power windows and door locks do not operate BUT doors will lock with remote. what could cause this, where do i look??

Your actual switches may have gotten wet, or have gone bad. You will need a jumper wire to test the switches. Remove the switch for each window and lock. Using the jumper wire, see if the each window will go up and down by jumping out each set of contacts. (Make the jumper take the place of the switch) Replace any window or lock switch that operates using the jumper, but doesn't work with the switch.
