Hi!!
There is one head and gasket sealant that I have used in three 3 different vehicles, the first one was 2 1/2 yrs. ago, the other one about 1 1/2 yrs. and the last one just about 6 mos. ago. The three vehicles are working fine an I've never had any problems reported from the owners. The first vehicle I used it on has over 20,000 miles since it was fixed. The stuff used is called http://www.steelseal.com/ and it is guaranteed to work if used as directed, check the site to see if your engine qualifies, there are some exemptions.

Using it is ok,but be aware that it is only meant as a temporary fix and the head gasket should be replaced as soon as possible.

Good Evening, if you are talking about the Bars Leak Headgasket fix stuff that comes in a silver bottle I would say it is good. But the products have their limitations. And I would seriously recommend going by the instructions. What kind of car and what is it doing?

SOURCE: head gasket sealant

As a A S E Certified Tech I Do NOT RECOMEND ANY "QUICK FIX" ADDITIVES Especialy for such a Critical Engine Component

More Costly but Also More effective is to Tear down Engine and Replace Head Gasket as You may have A Cracked Head Or Block That NO ADDITIVE will TRUELY REPAIR PROPERLY

Rough Estemate In USA Midwest $350.00-$600.00 For The Real FIX yep they vary that wide Some of us Love Helping PEOPLE the Rest LOVE THE MONEY MORE

Does the stop leak work by swelling the rubber seals or by detecting air and stopping up the leak?

It depends what sort of stop leak you're talking about. There's different types.

Something for a leaking windshield rubber works by filling a gap and then becomes hard, similar to how bathroom sealant works.

An oil stop-leak works by penetrating and 'refurbishing' -swelling- dried gaskets and then hardening when it contacts the air on the outside of the engine block.

Some types of coolant sealant work by allowing particles to congregate/collect around a small hole in a radiator, blocking the hole. The particles harden due to the air/heat to form a plug. This type of sealant can also block your heater matrix, and they do not repair rubber hoses (hoses must be replaced if leaking).

A cylinder head sealant works by either depositing particles in a small crack in the head or gasket, or in the case of a modern head sealant, it uses polymers.

If you have a slight oil leak - slight - on an engine or auto box, try a sealant. If it's anything more than a slight weep, then gasket/seal replacement is the best option.

K&w block sealant does it work

All block sealers will work for MINOR seepage of head gaskets beyond that gasket replacement is suggested.

I am having a problem with my heater, as well as the coolant tank was empty this morning. I put the 50/50 in it took almost a gallon and a half to get back to good. There is alot of smoke or steam...

You have a blown head gasket, or a cracked cylinder head. It's letting the coolant run through the engine, also no coolant no heat. You can try a good head gasket sealant like BAR'S 1 step head gasket sealant #1111. But chances are with it useing that much coolant, it will need to be repaired.

Oil and water are combine what should I Do? What is the best sealant?

If you have oil and water mixed you have blown your head gasket and the damage is done. no sealant will help at this point. the engine has water in it and it will seize water in a engine is NOT GOOD.
you will have to get a local shop to replace the intake manifold and head gaskets. no doubt there.. find a reliable shop and cheap is not the way to go with this repair reputation and put in it their hands to put it back together right

Hi i have 98 camry it blow white smoke not only on 1st start, but only sometimes.driving up hill and it is rattling and blow white smoke and the car have not enough power.pls any help suuggestion is very...

Sounds to me like the head gasket is blown, but there may be sealant in the system which is making it intermittently leak antifreeze into the cylinders.

A bad cylinder head gasket will also cause a compromise in compression, which will cause a lack of power.

Time to overhaul or replace the engine's head gasket, or replace the engine with one that doesn't have a blown head gasket.

Good luck on this repair.

Probably around $1000.00. It's a rather involved job.

I have a pontiac and i keep blowing head gasket on number one cylinder. I have installed new heads and gasket lasted about five years. I was wondering what the correct head bolt torque is for a 1995...

cylinder head bolts, step one;33 ft. lbs, second step rotate an additional 90-degrees (1/4 turn). do not put any oil or sealant on gasket. the gasket should seal itself if torqued properly.
