Question about 1999 Chrysler 300M

1 Answer

I started my car (2002 Chrysler 300M) this morning. It ran for a few seconds then died. I started it two more times with similar results. Then all of a sudden the starter won"t turn over at all. I have full battery power. Help!

Okay. I went and held the key in the on position for about 30sec, moved the gear selector to drive then back to park. the headlights came on then the car started. The car ran normally. I turned the ignition off then restarted and the same sequence as before occurred. Could the fuel pump be going?

It sounds like to me that the starter did in fact go out. but as for the car dieing twice, that sounds like you have a different problem

IF the coil was melted , it is possible that the wiring for the p2008 fault is in the same harness and has burnt through causing the open circuit. or melted out in the connection causing the open circuit.

Why isn't my 2002 Chrysler 300m not going into manual shift?

  • The linkage could be jammed. You may need to access the linkage by removing the console.
  • Sometimes shifting to drive and park a few times will release it.
  • Get a OBD reader hooked up and read any tranny faults.

Car dies without warning

The symptoms you describe are similar to what I experienced on a 1994 Fiat 900cc. Sometimes it would just die and immediately restart, just to die again. Other times it would surge, almost like a misfire. There were no dashboard lights or error codes.

I disconnected the electrical wire on the MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor) and the car ran pretty ok... so I then replaced the MAF.

Try cleaning your mass airflow sensor to see if that makes any difference. You'll probably find a video on Youtube.

I have a 2002 crhysler 300m with a 3.5 high

Hello, Had the same problem but i did just the opposite I put a 2002 engine in a 2000. I found out that the cam sensor spocket (for the timing belt) Has the holes for the cam sensor in a different spots causing all kinds of problems also they did the same with the flex plate so I hope you took the one off the 2002 and used it or you will have to pull it back out and change it. Good luck

2002 chrysler 300 wont go into park

It sounds like your linkage is binding. Hold the brake down and shift between drive and reverse a few times and then into park. I had the same problem with my 2002 300m. It went away after working the shifter a number of times. DO NOT FORCE IT.

get a starting and charging system diagnostic. I am the owner of a 99 300M and I had a similar problem. It took about 3 months before my car would not start at all. But sometimes, I would get this clicking when turning the key in the ignition. It turned out to be a short in the starter. The starter and the alternator had to be replaced.

Dies at all diff times

Hello krh60, What i would suggest is opening your hood, disconnecting your battery and then cleaning the terminals. Typically when there is a bad connection (your terminals have oxidized) you may experience a dying motor. Of course there are many other solutions to this problem but this is what i suggest to start with. -Please post and let us know what you decide to do.
