Trying to get the rear axle off a 1997 chevy blazer 4x4

You have to remove the cross shaft that runs between the axles. To do this find the retaining bolt at one end of the cross shaft, it should have a 5/16 or 8mm head on it, and remove it. After that push the cross shaft a little way out of the carrier, then roll the carrier 180 degrees grab the shaft and pull it out. Then after removing the tires and brake drums, push in on the axles and the c-clip will normally fall free, if it doesent you should be able to tap it with your finger and get it to fall out.

How to disassemble the rear axle on 1996 s-10 blazer

jack up the rear end take cover off of rear end housing remove the big center pin by removing the 8mm bolt holding it in place becareful doing this i've heard they can break pretty easy but knock on wood i've never broke one. remove pin being careful not to let the spyder gear work their way out then push the axles in toward the center of the rear end housing and remove the retaining u clip it should fall right out the pull axle straight out reinstall in the reverse order

1999 Chevy Blazer makes noise

Check your driveshaft universal joint (u joint). When the needle bearings go, this is the sound it makes. To check, chock all wheels front and rear, put in neutral, if 4x4, put 4x4 in neutral also, go under vehicle, grab driveshaft at u joint and try to turn back and forth, watching for play, wobble in u joint. U should be able to see it. Let me know how u do.

Transmission or rearend

IF its whining noise then first check the transmission fluid in the rear axle if its 4X4 truck ,if its not 4X4 then check the brakes or the wheel is making contact to any metal part ....

Good luck....
