Question about Chevrolet Cavalier
If you raise and support the car on stands you will find the starter on the front of the engine between the radiator and the engine block,follow the positive cable from the battery to it.The solenoid bolts to the starter so you need to remove the starter from the car.The most common repair for the problem that you are discribing is to replace the brush holder asmbly inside of the starter.Let me know if you need more help.

not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can
be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it
can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or
no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or
injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.
