Thats true. Newer vehicles no longer use distributors caps and wires. They run under a new type of system called DIS (digital ignition system). Its all computerized, utilizing angel position sensors to set ignition timing and multi-ignition coil set-ups. In your A4 it uses COPs (Coil Over Plugs) design. Each cylinder has its own ignition coil ex.: 4 cylinder= 4 coils, V6=6 coils!!Hopefully this help'd

After replacing the valves,timing belt and the water pump my Audi a4 2001 model. Started misfiring,the specialist checked the timing of the camshaft and the timing chain everything looked ok but continued...


Does it have spark plug wires? If so, check top make sure one isn't grounded or resting on another spark plug wire. If coil-on-spark plug, check for bad cam sensor... Does computer bring up any codes?

P0301 is cylinder #1 misfire detected. This can be caused by bad spark plug, bad spark plug wire, bad fuel injector, and other possibilities. the most common cause is a bad spark plug.

2004 audi a4 1.8 t misfiring flt code p0301 changed coils spark plug still showing code for cyl 1


try find out on the internet wats the problem with that code but take out the spark plug out of no 1 cilinder conected to the coil and turn over the engine and u will see if the spark plug will spark or not if is not sparking and the spark plugs and the coils are new may be from a wire or loose conection

its easy beans just do them one at a time so you dont get the spark plug wires mixed up.

did you check wires ? common problem spark plug wire failure
check if you get spark in wire, if you don't there is a problem within in the wire, unfortunately you need to buy new set
