Most likely a bad water pump. You will have to drain the coolant, loosen the nut on the pulley, then take off the belt, then remove the pulley, then remove the pump. Make sure metal surface is clean before you put the new gasket and pump on, install in reverse order.

Do I need special tools to change water pump on 2005 cadillac cts

  1. You'll need a tool to release the tension on the serpentine belt and when you need to put the belt back on. Regular standard socket wrenches will suffice for the rest.

Waterpump leak

Hello bladresha: My name is Roger and I will help you. The water pump on the 4.0 engine is located at the rear of the motor inside of the water cross over tube. It does require special tools in order to remove and install. This pump does not bolt in or on to the motor. This is a twist and lock in pump. Just like the Cadillac Northstar motor. You will need to remove the upper hose housing from the crossover tube. Look inside of the housing and you will see the water pump. You will need to use the special tool in order to unlock the water pump. Pay close attention to the water pump when removed. There will be a notch in one of the ears. This is a location notch. The new pump must go in the same notch. I have attached a picture that shows the water pump location. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. How difficult is is to change the water pump on a 2000 Chevy Silverado and are there special tools needed?

Hi, my name is Ben. I wouldn't call this a difficult repair, but it is time consuming. You may need a special tool to help you remove the water pump pulley.
Remove the air intake duct, remove the upper radiator shroud, remove the fan assembly, loosen the bolts on the water pump pulley a few turns before removing the serpentine belt, then remove the serpentine belt, now remove the water pump pulley, if it's a V-8 remove the lower radiator hose and thermostat housing, unbolt the water pump, if it's tight lightly tap it with a RUBBER mallet. Important, clean the gasket surfaces very well. apply a thin coat of RTV on both gasket surfaces and install a new gasket. On V-6 engines use a small amount of the RTV on the bolt threads. The rest in the reverse of removal. Once completed, refill with coolant and check for leaks, bring the engine to notmal operating temperature and turn the heat on high

How to replace leaking water pump on 2002 saturn lw200?

well if your talking about the 4 cylinder 2.2 liter,,youre gonna need a special tool that saturn has,its a holding fixture tool for the timing chain because the chain drives the water pump and you must remove the water pump pulley from the pump but you must keep the chain in place with this holding tool,it keeps the chain and pulley in place,,,,youre gonna have to find that tool either from the saturnvservice shop or maybe aftermarket, the only other way to do it is remove all the timing chains and then remove pump,,,,

You need the special tool that will hold the water pump pulley and a 32mm open ended wrench. Ebay has the set for around $20.
The thread is the opposite than normal too!
Easy to take it all off with the right tools. 15 minutes max.
