This website will show you where the drain plug is: http://media.photobucket.com/image/1987%20jeep%20wrangler%20where%20is%20the%20transmission%20drain%20plug/ryanmmadden/2copy.jpg ,
As far as the tool goes iam not really sure. I would think that it would just be a regular wrench of socket

How do i put in transmission oil 2004 volkswagen passat

There is no dipstick on these vehicles like u will find on older american cars.

The transmission fluid can only be checked when the transmission fluid temperature is between 35 to 45 degrees celcius.

The only way to know the fluid temp is with a diagnostic scan tool. At that point you remove the fill plug in the bottom of the transmision pan and fill with fluid until fluid drains back out. Use only genuine VW fluid part number G 052162A2 or you will damage the transmision. If you fill with fluid while tranny is to cool you will over fill and damage the transmission. If you fill with fluid when the tranny is to hot you will underfill and run a slight risk of damaging the transmission. The fill plug and drain plug are next to each other so make sure you are removing the right one.

How many ATF go to the aut. trasmission?

You need a scan tool to check the automatic transmission fluid on this car. The scan tool is needed to know the temperature of the fluid which must be close to 40 degrees celsius. <<<< The above I found on a vw site, The tranny should take about 5 qts for a filter change, or 12 qts for a total rebuild. And the fill plugs on th eside of the tranny, one should be up, that is the filler, and lower one is the level, when it seeps out the lower one, it is full. Hope this helps.

How do i check my transmission fluid? for a 2000

Set the parking brake and put a block on at least one wheel. Pop the hood and find the Transmission dipstick. Start the engine and shift the gear shift into neutral. Pull the dipstick, wipe it with a clean rag, put it back in, pull it out and read it.

Might have transmission fluid leak????

its fairly easy to be honest.you only need the tool to check transmision temp.it should be checked at a temp of 40 degrees c.so i reckon 10-15 mins from cold on idle(dont drive it ) should be about right.then remove the plug in the sump.this exposes a tube that goes in to the sump that is the right length so that only excess oil will drain out.Bassicaly the tube allows the sump to drain until the correct ammount of oil is in there.if you need to top up there is a short tube with a red cover over the top of it.remove this and top up until oil drains out the sump from the hole where the sump plug goes.go here for a picture that explains all.......
