I have has this same problem before ( check engine light). If you consult your saab manual you will find the details of why this is occuring. It is related to the filimant on the bosch fuel regulator ( laymans terms here).

In regards to the sterio I was able to use the factory code (0100) to reset the unit.

    hope this helps.

I had a similar problem with my 94 Saab 900, I needed to reset the radio code because the one in my user manual was wrong. If you can remove the radio from the dash (you can buy a tool or make it with metal clothes hangers). Pop the radio out and the correct code will sometimes be written on the top of the radio.

Either way entering this correct code did nothing for me on startup. But the solution is far out - turn the ignition key to "on" without starting the engine so the electrical system is on. Then leave this for 1 hour. When you return the HID will display "enter code" (exactly like if you hold down the BAND button - but that doesn't work like this does). Now enter the correct code.

How to Reset the Check Engine light

Disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes should clear the check engine light if the problem that tripped it was corrected. You may need to reset your alarm after disconnection your battery and you definitely will need your radio code if it's the original Saab radio.

Check engine Light is on for a while, then goes off

hi the engine check light is telling u that a sensor on your engine or tranmisson is faulty it needs to have the fault codes checked by a mechanic.
try disconnecting u battery lead for 60 sec BUT MAKE SURE U HAVE RADIO CODE OR U WILL LOOSE USE OF RADIO try it for a couple of days and if it comes back see a dealer

Retrieve fault codes 92 900

Fault codes come from the fuel injection system diagnostic circuitry, which can store up to three faults. They can be read through the check engine light in the dash. You'll need to make a switched test lead with a spade connector on one end for connecting to the test connector. The other end is connected to ground. In 1992 the test connector is located beneath rear seat in sedan, or under the bellows ahead of shifter in convertible. With ignition off and test lead off, connect test lead to ground and test connector pin 2. turn ignition key to ON When Check Engine light comes on, turn test lead switch ON; Check Engine light should immediately go out When Check Engine light flashes ONCE, IMMEDIATELY turn test lead switch OFF Any fault codes will flash through the Check Engine light, with a long flash at beginning and end of each code; code flashes are short flashes, each block of flashes is separated by a longer space. With the engne OFF, the first fault code is that for "No RPM" 1 2 2 3 1, it will look like oooo x xx xx xxx x oooo where o = steady on, x = single flash There are over 20 fault codes, so get yourself a copy of the best source of info on this car: the "Bentley Bible" aka the Saab 900 Official Service Manual, costs about $40 from Amazon 16 valve manual: http://www.amazon.com/Saab-900-Valve-Service-Manual/dp/0837603137 8 valve manual :http://www.amazon.com/Eight-Official-Service-Manual-1981-1988/dp/0837603102 Hope this helps, if it does please give a "thumbs up", thanks Saabreur

Radio

I just put a new radio in my 92 900s
this is what I did I got a volt meter with an ohm meter in it , I pulled out the radio and the radio cradel pulled the plugs off the back of the cradel, there are 2 major plugs you need 1 is for the power and the other is for the 2 front speakers, I think there is a amp someplace for the rear speakers but I couldn't find it so I just ran 2 new wires to the rear speakers the power plug has a red and I think pinkish colors the other plug is to the 2 front spakers, on the power plug you have a constant hot that is the pinkish wire, the red wire goes on and off with the key and the orange is for the power ant and I think the white is for the dimmer lites for the radio, hope this helps If you want you can email me at delflyzero@hotmail.com

Ignition switch on my 1987 Saab 900i

You may need to remove the ignition housing assembly to find out whats wrong inside. There are a series of small gears which connect the ignition barrel to the ignition switch & also operate the reverse gear lock mechanism. You'll need a special 3 pronged tool to remove the assembly - available from SAAB dealers.

Saab 900i 1992 model won't Start

sounds like a fuel problem check for spark and try to get the car running on ehter (aerosol starting fluid) spray it into the air intake (makesure not to spray the filter just take it out) and have a helping hand turn the key if the car runs, then its a fuel problem prbly the fuel pump, NOTE: When running only on ether the car will sound very funny this is normal, IF the car wont start problems are elsewhere such as a timing belt slipping, no spark, no compression, Bad coil, weak starter, bad valve ect etc HOPETHIS HELPS feel free to e-mail me at fixya@whypayforhelp.org
