The toggle switch to the coil may be a anti theft device ( crude but effective ) and the wire to the switch may come from the run circuit on the ignition switch. When the toggle switch is off then there is no power to the coil hence no start. I think this one you will have to spend time tracing out
check your wiring. Mine had 2 positive wires. one ran the lights and certain things and other ran the radio/cassette etc. also check the ground wires same deal need both for every thing to work.
Yes the battery can be effected (drain) but in any kind of weather, unless you turn the radio off when you turn the engine off. The power wire in either application is connected directly to the battery as opposed to being connected to the ACC terminal which will be switched on and off with the ignition. You should connect the power wire (should be RED in color) from the radio plug to the terminal (marked "acc") on your fuse box located somewhere under your dash board. It sounds as though it's possible that the RED power wire and the YELLOW "Memory" wire have been switched, the power wire should be switched with the ignition and the Memory wire should be connected directly to a Battery terminal (marked as Batt also on the fuse box) or to the battery itself. All of these wires should be labeled with a small tab indicating there connection. Example Red wire marked (+ poss power), Black wire (- Neg Ground) Yellow wire (Memory) and usually 2 Green, 2Grey, 2 Blue, 2Purple as for the Speakers Poss. & Neg. respectively.

The BLUE/RED wire from your ignition switch provides power to your cigarette lighter and your radio via the 15 Amp "CIG" fuse and the 7.5 Amp "RADIO" fuse in the fuse block under the left end of the dash in the kick panel.
However, this wire will not have any power with the ignition switch removed and therefore would not have been able to blow any fuses with the switch removed. The two fuses that the BLUE/RED wire go to will also not cause your engine to not start.
If your radio does not work and your engine does not start, you probably accidently grounded the WHITE wire. This is one of the TWO power wires going INTO the ignition switch. The other power wire is the BLACK/RED. The WHITE wire gets power from the 40 Amp "AM1" fuse and the BLACK/RED wire gets power from the 30 Amp "AM2" fuse. Both of these fuses are located in the F.1 fusable link box in the engine compartment at the battery.
MY 93 K1500 BLAZER DID THE SAME THING. I RAN A HOT WIRE FROM THE BATTERY INTO MY CAB TO A TOGGLE SWITCH . AND ANOTHER HOT WIRE TO THE POSITIVE WIRE OF THE FUEL PUMP ON THE OUT SIDE OF THE TANK. NOW YOU DON"T NEED TO GROUND THE FUEL PUMP OR TOGGLE SWITCH OUT. THE FUEL PUMP IS ALL READY GROUNDED. MAKE SURE TO PUT A 20 OR 30 AMP BREAKABLE FUSE IN BETWEEN THE WIRE FROM THE BATTERY AND TOGGLE SWITCH. I DID THIS ABOUT SIX MONTHS AGO AND IT HAS WORKED GREAT EVERY SINCE. JAKE .B
The remote wire is an accessory power source, like the ACC line from your radio. (usually the red one). Can also be hooked into anything that has 12v when the ignition is on, like a powered antenna.
Yes it could be but more likely its one of the main fuses for the ignition. If the charging and oil light's come on when its switched on then the ignition switch should be ok
First, Use only the Power Point or direct battery for accessories. I am assuming this is aftermarket radio.
The fix; Under the hood, there is a black box, driver's side. Inside the box cover is the fuse configuration. You are looking for a Green fuse, for Engine Management Control. Usually, 30 amp. Check this fuse. If it is blown, problem solved. Check all other fuses, also.
If the fuses are ok then check your earth connections. Make sure they are clean and secure. Have you had a test meter on the wiring to these components?
