Question about 1997 Subaru Legacy

Open Question

1997 Legacy Brighton The heater/climate control buttons no longer illuminate or work. The blower works as well as the blower control but the buttons to switch from defrost to feet or vents no longer work regularly. They will occasionally work but never when you nee them to and less as time goes on. Thanks for your help.

SOURCE: climate control system only blow air out defrost vent

there is a good chance that you blend air door is stuck closed over your heater core and therefore not allowing the heat to flow, also your door that opens and close your direction of flow from the floor ,das, vent and defrost.your going to have to remove the lower cowling of the dash on the passenger side analso some of the center dash to actually check to see if the cable, servo motors. are acuating the doors.the issue could be just a stuck door or a misaligned cable or that it came off. that falls under the mechanical side of probabilities. electrical would most likely be a faulty selector switch or a servo motor

SOURCE: Jeep AC blows cold air at defrost and feet but not through vents

There is a flap that directs the air. the flap is controlled by a vacuum actuator. This is located inside the venting. The actuator is connected to little vacuum hoses that attach to the temperature control switch. Either the flap is stuck, or the actuator has gone bad.

SOURCE: My 1998 Subaru Legacy defrost is stuck on defrost.

probably whatever you put in the cupholder has spilled on the controls causing them to stick, poor design isn't it? no real fix ,i would try to spray some silicone in between the buttons and try to free them, look into buying a unit from the junk yard, not a hard component to change at all

SOURCE: climate control is on defrost only the auto

Check your vacuum pump located on the right side fenderwell. see if its running. Check the vacuum hose at the hubs for leaks or damage. repair if damaged. check for other vacuum leaks such as the grey hose going to the heater control valve.

Is the blower running? Is coolant hot in the heater core when you set controls to hot? Do you have a picture of which setup you have?

Heater blower dose not work

What have you checked so far ?
Could be the blower motor, the resistor, a fuse, bad ground connection, or the HVAC controller if you have climate control.

Why wont my a/c or heater fan come on?

When the blower works only on the high setting its usually a bad blower resistor which is right near the blower motor. now you say it would always blow high regardless of the fan speed setting that would indicate probably the climate control unit or a connector problem somewhere. finally it not working at all may be the climate control unit or connection went bad even further. it might have a blown fuse or a bad blower motor in addition to the climate control unit or connector problem .check for power and ground at the blower motor. the power is supplied from fuses and may have a relay also. the ground is supplied from the climate control unit and goes through the resistor to control the fan speed. good luck

Hi i have got 1997 subaru Legacy, the internal air function was working fine, till last week, but sudenly, it stop working. I can see the display, but the air is not comming, not for the Aircond. and not...

Is this A/C or entire climate control problem? I have a 97, too, and took out my climate control unit and found debris and spilled liquid on the unit! Liquids play havoc on electrical connectors. Make sure all connectors are clean and thoroughly connected to housings. Check the harness for breaks in wiring. Could have a short someplace. Heat and/or too much current could possibly cause immediate stoppage. Never forget simplest method..... check the fuses both inside car and under hood. If it's A/C as the problem, check R134 level at certified mechanic. Don't run A/C with low coolant - could burn up compressor. Let me know how it goes!

Where is the blower motor relay located on a 1997 buick lesabre.

There are 2 relays for the blower. The low blower relay and the high blower relay. They are both located
under the hood in the center of the firewall.
The low will have 4 wires from it, one lt. blue and 3 brown. The high will have 5 wires 1 purple(to blower mtr.) 1 black 1 dk blue 1 red and 1 orange.
Also, the blower resistor is in the same area if needed. Hope this helps.
