Aside from the obvious advice of checking the battery cables at both ends, look for a 175 amp mega fuse between the battery and the relay box there by the battery. There is also a stud in the cabin fuse box that the power there runs thru. Let me know if you have more questions.

If the battery is good, most likely a loose connection. Check the battery terminals, ground connection to chassis, and power stud at the interior fuse panel.

I have a 2000 lincoln ls. what does p-j\b stand for? thats what it says in my owners manuel for my fuses

That's power to the junction block which is the power box for almost everything! I've seen so many things draw power on those lincolns, if your familiar with a volt meter I would hook it up in between the negative battery cable and pull all fuses one by one until you can narrow it down more then just the J/B fuse..

Having trouble fault finding why battery wont charge we have checked all fuses and connections to alternator, but have found there is no alert light for the battery when it is low or a belt broke it had...

you check all the fuses, including the 30amp fuse or is it 40amp they are not blown none of them, dont take of any leads when the car is running that will definetly short the system. use a volt meter okay. Well if you dont have one use this method then we will trouble shoot the alternator. got a pocket screw driver? you can only do this if there is no cover on the back of the alternator and if it is safe to reach the back of the alternator without falling in the engine. get a sizable screw driver .Tthe middle but area of the alternator produces a magnetic potential, you are charging. now is there a magnetic potential there if yes you are charging if no then you are not as long as its 2 volt above battery there is a magnetic potential and you are charging if it is 1 volt of potential there is no potential and no charging. you basically testing for a magnetic attraction of the screw driver to the middle back of the alternator. so dont remove the leads, here youll know if you need a battery. magnet is there get a battery, no magnet get and alternaor.
