2001 Chrysler LHS warning light

I just got this car a week ago - now I have a warning light on the lower corner of the dash has lit up - it is an engine symbol.
I am thinking it must be s service info light of some sort - but that is only a guess. anyone know for sure ?
Oh yeh - I have checked oil and coolant levels etc, all ok.
thanks - kuro-go

Thank you - it seems it was as simple as you thought, the gas cap must have been loosened off / or not put on correctly.

quick response and good information, cant ask for anything more.

    Thanks again - kuro-go

You may have a vacuum hose cracked used for the fuel emission systems. Check on the passenger side of the motor where plastic vacuum tubes all go into on item. The hose that may be cracked runs from the round unit mounted next to AC compressor on the frame. The tubes are black and run along the frame and curve up by the ground battery cable. The factory installed two 3/8 vacuum hose connectors and then went back to a plastic tube running to the gas tank for venting. I had this problem and found it by accident. After I replaced the hose the check engine light went out, Good luck

The light is turned on by the emission system. Go the nerest autozone an have the check the codes and reset it. It could be as simple as the gas cap is loose.

Here is a website http://www.diyrepairmanuals.com/products.asp?cat=1405 for a new one.
Check the junk yards and see what is there. LHS is the same body, and 3.2 & 3.5 motors are almost the same. 2004 Concorde is same body with LHS grill & backup lights. 300M 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 300's are same body except shorter trunk, with 3.5 motor, same as LHS
