Although I'm not sure, my best guess is that the VSC light is merely and indication that the VSC system has passed its internal test during the transition to power on. It could also illumintate and remain illuminated if there were a problem with the VSC system.

The VSC is designed to kick in during and emergency maneuver. Chances are you are not going to be looking at that light in such a circumstance so it really doesn't matter if it comes on or not. Your system recorder would probably record the fact that it kicked in. You wouldn't know this unless you were involved inan accident and the dealer downloaded the information from the system recorder.

The VSC is Vehicle Stability Control. It also lets the car know when you are going to fast that you are about to loose grip of the tire.

try the simple things first. the vsc light is activated every time the check engine light goes on. Check engine light can go on for the simple things like gas cap not tight, wiper fluid is low, low brake fluid, and I think low coolant. Simple checks that anyone can do

Take off gas cap and turn back on and listen for ONE CLICK check to make sure it is tight, if not do it again!
Second, pop open the hood, (latch is adjacent to steering column on the left side at the bottom of the dash (two latches one is gas the other hood). Take a small crescent wrench and loosen positive terminal bolt from battery (six to seven turns should do it)
take it off for 30 seconds then place it back on and tighten back on. Turn on engine, if lights did not go off, get a diagnostic check to find the proper code, there are a myriad of problems from a loose electrical connection, to oxygen sensors to brakes, etc

It is possible that a break or wheel is slightly stuck and rubbing and causing the motor to work harder to turn it. May have blown a vacuum line from pressure as well. A diagnostic scanner can be hooked up to the car to read engine codes which will tell you what is wrong as well as why the light is on. Many part stores will run the test for free.

SOURCE: vsc light on my lexus rx 350 2007 .

I'm not sure about the Lexus, but Nissan and other vehicles with the VSC usually will be on until you can drive on a straight road for approximately 2-3 miles without stops and about the same speed during the reset process. The interstate or some type of hwy will reset this light once the vehicle has learned the Vehicle Stabilization Control in which is learned by the way you drive and enables the car to have stable control. Hope this helps out, if this doesn't work, I would take it in for more diagnostics.

After a long drive on vacation in a heavy rain, the check engine, VSC, and Trac Off lights came on and stayed on. Autozone says the codes are P0015 and P0017. any ideas?

Year/make/model??? P0015 is a camshaft position sensor code and P0017 is a crankshaft position sensor code ( generically ). The computer most likely disabled the traction/Vsc as a safety related operation. It is possible the heavy rain may have caused an electrical issue within the wiring/sensors. I would suggest having the codes cleared and continue driving and monitor the engine light to see if these codes return. Ir they do, further diagnostics will be required

I had a similar experience. Finally the car started overheating. Turned out the thermostat went bad and the radiator blew a leak. Had those replaced. Runs great.

Vsc and malfunction warning lights lit up whilst driving..engine revs when idling but very little power when driving..

Scan the computer for trouble codes. Once you know what codes a present post them here. You can buy an inexpensive scan tool and get codes yourself, you can call your local parts store to see if they can get the codes for you, or you can bring it to a shop and have them run a diagnoses. The VSC light will always come on any time the check engine light comes on.
