Battery light indicates alternator failure. Alternator may have internal short or perhaps something else in the car is shorted. Can you jump start?

OK, it could be your starter, but I would like to rule out the alternator first.
can you do a bit of troubleshooting for me? If yes, try this: Remove negative battery cable, remove nut and biggest (red?) wire from alternator, wrap terminal with tape to keep it insulated from metal on the engine. Jump from battery cables to another battery/car and see if it will turn over.
If this works, remove your alternator and take it to the parts store for testing. If bad, install a new or rebuild alternator.
Jump doesn't work, did you get a big spark when you attached the jumper cables? If yes, we'll need to find the short in your car. I will see if I can get your wiring diagrams to see what ideas to give you for checking. If no spark, it is probably the starter/solenoid. Have a load test done on the battery as all indications are a failing battery cell ( probably due to colder weather)

Most likely a bad battery or battery terminal connection.

My Honda Accord wont start even with a jump. The lights come on but wont turn over. No click, no sound, no nothing

IT's those short drives that burn down a battery! The starting of an engine requires mucho electric to get it running. The alternator then charges the battery, but slowly! If you also have the lights and stereo on it is even slower. Get the battery FULLY charged with a commercial battery charger. Then check to see if the alternator is charging up the battery after you start it. If not, replace the alternator. If the battery dies overnight or in a few days...replace the battery.

Vw jetta glx vr6 key turns in ignition, but nothing happens

The first thing I would check is the starter motor fuse and relay, but the lights staying on is weird. Perhaps the ignition key switch is defective. That could be caused by many things including wear and tear / moisture / insects, especially if the car is old and you are living in a warm and humid climate.

I have only 1 car and remote lock< I gave the remote lock to my wife so I could l lock the key in the car when I was done with it. She left town for the weekend and when I went to start the car I got...

Is your security light flashing? If so, your onboard security system has disabled the starter. The security system can be reset (providing you are using the ORIGINAL key for the car) you may have to hook up a battery charger to accomplish this. First hook up the battery charger then when you get in the car, set the parking brake before turning the ignition on. This will keep the daytime running lights from coming on. Then turn the key to the RUN position and wait for the security light to stop flashing. (This takes about 10 minutes.) Then, without turning the key off, turn the key to the START position. The engine should start.

If this doen't work, you will probably have to wait until your wife gets home so you can reset the security system by using the remote to lock the unlock the doors.

I would also recommend investing in a second remote and key so you don't have this problem in the future. The second key and remote is pretty easy to progrm on your vehicle. This can be done either by the dealer or most aftermarket repair shops. You MAY even want to try to do it yourself. Instructions for programming additional keys and remotes are located in your Owner's Manual.

On my 02 Totyota Avalon when I turned the key to start the engine there was a sound like a pop and then it wouldn't start. Then there was nothing, it was like the battery had died although there had been...

Remove the battery and attempt to charge it, then have the parts store perform a free battery test. You likely just need to replace the battery and the pop was an indicator that a dead short in the battery is draining off the electricity that would otherwise be stored in the battery. If you don't know the age of the battery that means it's probably not new and typically 3 years (or more if a very expensive battery with duration of up to five years is selected) is the typical life of a car battery.

Car won't start!!! & ABS Light on

Sounds like carbon build up on the contacts inside the electrical ignition switch which is not the key cylinder. Its located on the lower steering coluum if coluum shift or if you have a floor shift it will be inside the console
