Question about 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid
This is how it works on my 2010 Escape. There are 3 buttons to the lower left of your steering column (Info, Setup, and Reset):
1) when it's displaying the "oil change required" message, hit the "reset" button to get rid of the message2) then hit the "Setup" button twice and you'll see the "oil life" screen, which is now at "0%". It tells you what to do next (i.e. "hold reset" until it says 100%).

Page 80 of you owners manual will give you step by step.
Basically you will turn the key on. Press the setup button located to the right of the instrument cluster. It will say something like press reset for system check. Press the reset button. The oil life will be displayed and under it it will say hold reset if new. Press and hold the reset button for 3-5 seconds. The display should change to 100% oil life.
