Question about 1990 Cadillac Eldorado

1 Answer

1990 Cadillac Eldorado-Needed to replace the insides of door. Replaced all inside wiring, etc from another door. Everything worked, seats, windows, mirror, switches. The door was opened and closed many, many times. I replaced the door panel, shut the door and now I cannot get the door open. I cannot open it electronically or manually. Cannot open it from inside. Passenger door opens fine.

The door latch which gets open/close is got stuck up and its got stuck up in locked position and that is not moving towards other position so the door is not getting opened. You need to open the door panel from inside and see the door locking latch ,and release the latch manually by pulling it towards out.But if this door locking latch is got cracked/broken and got stuck up in locked position then it that case the door latch has to be replaced. You can get the required part from local auto part store. --------- To remove the door panel:--- Start by trying to remove the trim plate around the power window buttons. Next, remove the trim around the door latch/power door switch. There will be screws behind each you have to remove. You also have to disconnect the electrical connections found in there. Finally, making sure the window is in the down position, pull up and out on the door panel to release the clips.------------ First lower the glass
Remove the screw in the control switch.
lift, tilt and slide the switch module up out of the door panel.
Pull the module out enough to be able to twist it, exposing the backside.
There might be a little blue cap on the plug, just twist to remove. Gently pry the electrical plugs loose. You might be able to just twist and push the module through the opening without unplugging the wires.
Also check down in the opening for a fastener screw to the door. If it is missing replace when reinstalling to prevent rattles.
OK, now remove the screw in the door handle's chrome trim piece and remove.
There are two screws at the edge of the panel at the latch end to remove.
There is a series of plastic clips at each end and across the bottom. Insert a putty knife between the panel and door frame, slide the knife until it meets a clip, with a quick pry of the knife the clip will pop loose, repeat at each clip. If any of the clips come loose and stay stuck to the door, just pry them out and reinstall back into the panel as necessary. They twist in.
Lift the panel straight up. Be careful there will be some wires to disconnect after you get the panel loose. If you have the illuminated key locks, there will be a thin black fiberoptic cable connection at the door light housing, it just pulls out.

Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation

How do i remove the front seats from a 1998 cadillac eldorado.

roll the seat all the way back and it should expose two bolts on the rails maybe inside the rails itself, there may be a plastic cover just remove that, then roll it all the way forward again if theres plastic covering remove it, should be two more bolts to remove and the whole seat with rails should come out.

I have toyota yaris 2008 with manual window can i replace it to automatic power window

You can but it is a LOT of work. You have to get a complete wire harness and route it to all your doors which means taking out about half your interior and some of the dash. Power windows use different tracks inside the doors as well as different mounting plates on the bottom of the windows so everything inside your doors needs to come out first before you can re-install the power windows. You will also need to replace the inside door panels to get rid of the hole for the window crank. Since this would be extremely expensive to do buying from the dealer you will have to try and find the parts at a salvage yard and the car is only a year old so parts cars are likely to be scarce. You will also need access to a wiring diagram for the car to make sure you have all the needed relays, fuses etc. to run the system. Hope this helps.

1989 to 1990 Powered door conversion

about the only advice i can give is that i did the same thing with a 94 probe base and a 94 gt. i had to take the whole wiring harness out of the gt and put it in the base. It starts from the inside fuse block, goes to both doors, under the front seats, all the way to the fuel pump, abs, tail lights, and pretty much everything from the dash to the rear of the car. If you can get a whole harness, it should work.

Did you put the push rods back in same as they came out? On some they have short and long, like short for intake and long for exhaust, or visa versa. Thats what it sounds like to me, you got the push rods in the wrong spots.
