SOURCE: hi, i have a 1997 OPEL CORSA, it has a 1.4 petrol ecotec engine i went to start it but it wouldnt spark at all. i have tried replacing the coil ack adn the distributor cap but it still isnt working. s

ITS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE NEAR THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY, IF YOU STAND IN FRONT OF THE CAR FACING THE WINDSCREEN , ITS ON YOUR LEFT , IT ACTUALLY READS OFF THE PULLEY TOOTHED WHEEL, IT FITS ONTO A BRACKET HELD BY A TORX BOLT , ITS ALSO VERY CLOSE TO THE PULLEY AND HAS A CABLE CONNECTED TO IT

SOURCE: hard starts in the morning even though replaced most parts

Check the power to the cold start injector. (it's only going to have fire for a few sec. after the key is turned on). If the fire is good, replace the cold start injector. This injector is activated for a few seconds when the engen temp is low to add a little fuel lower down in the intake and closer to the pistons.

if ur car has a distribuitor it wont have a crankshaft sensor, the problem might be in your distribuitor, check the connector and its connection to the inner coil of the distribuitor... u said it was a ecotec engine, as far as i know ecotecs are 16 valve engines, in your case it would be a x14xe engine, with two camshafts, but that engine has a ignition coil, no distribuitor hope this helps

SOURCE: Opel corsa bakkie-Cylinder 2 and 3 gives no spark

The ignition coil package is a kind of two coils. One is delivering to spark plug 1 and 4, the other is 2 and 3. So I think the coil is the problem.

Likely you are talking about the harmonic balancer.
The bolt turns counter clockwise and is generally removed using an air gun. There is another way to do that too but it is a bit dangerous. Using a solid breaker bar (one without jointed end) you can brace the end against the ground with the socket installed on the crank bolt (I actually have a pipe driven into the ground outside just for doing this...I just slide the bar into the pipe and keep it form dropping by using a vise grip on the handle). Once the socket is on the bolt, crank the engine over using the starter, the engine will force the bolt to back out.
After you get the belt installed, tighten it as much as you can by hand and ask a shop to just give it a final tightening with an air gun.
If the socket slips the bar can fly up so be very careful and don't stand where it can hit you!

When ignition is switched on only the petrol & handbrake lights come on. nothing else shows or work. the flickers and head lights still work

since some lights come on, it isn't the fuse. Probably an internal problem. You could unplug it and plug it back into see if it comes back. If it's the old type, you can take it apart and see where the wire is broke in the plastic. Not a hard fix. If it is digital, most likely the chip is dieing.

more than likely it's a blown fuse or two if it keeps popping fuses you will need to trace down a possible short another problem is a wiring harness has come loose and just needs plugged back in, but check the fuses first

My Opel Corsa dies down during driving, it will only start again after 7 to 10 mins, l have no clue whats happening.

No idea offhand to be honest i would need my head under the bonnet to know what wrong .could be anything from the gauze filter in the fuel tank on the bottom of the fuel pump becoming chocked up and leaving the car allows it to drop away to a faulty pump overheating or the contacts ,maybe even a ignition module overheating ,Best advice is ask a local mechanic to have a look for you as normally these early opel corsas with the 4 cylinder engine are bullet proof they are even valve free if the timing belt snaps .
