Question about 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis

1 Answer

Diagrams I have a 95 mercury grand marquis it is really squeekie in the frontend and stirring. I just had sway bar link on both sides as well as shocks and brakes. I think it might be the balljoints. I need to get a diagram of all of that so I can get the man working on my car (does not speak english well) to show me what I need. Where can I get that? Is there somewhere on the internet to get it free?

I have a 99 Mercury Grand Marquis.  Goodyear quoted me 957.00 before tax for upper and lower ball joints and an alignment.  I am going to get a second opinion at a different shop tomorrow. Hope it's better news.

If the guy you have working on your car does not know what a ball joint is, or where it is located, i would not have him working on my car!!!! You can have him lift the front end of your car up and by grabbing the top and bottom of the tire and move it in a top to bottom motion and see if there is movement in the ball joint. The ball joint is located at the bottom of the spindle(the thing that holds the front tire) it may have a grease fitting that is visible at the bottom of the ball joint, there is also an upper ball joint on that car aswell. You can also check the tie rod also by grabbing the tire to the right and left and jiggle it tto the right and left to see if there is any movement in the tie rod located on that same spindle up about half the distance up and towards the the rear of the car on both sides. All parts will be available at any online parts place or jobber. And nothing thats worth anythingthing is free Bro.

How do I replace the rear axle assembly in a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis?

If you have air suspension, turn it off from the trunk. Put car on hoist and support rear axle. Make sure you support the axel well so the coil springs do not injure you when you remove the shocks and etc. Remove brake lines from brakes. Remove emergency brake cable from brakes. Remove sway bar link bolts to frame. Remove the bolts that hold axle to rear control arms. Remove rear shocks. ( these are a real pain ) Axle assembly can now be removed.

My 95 Mercury Villager sways from side to side. What are some potential causes?

You have to be more specific about swaying. Is the steering not responsive enough? Or does it seem top-heavy? When you hit a bump on a slight turn, does it track badly?
If it's got looseness in the steering, letting it drift,it could be bad tie rod ends or just need alignment.Worn tires can cause mayhem also, along with bad shock absorbers or broken sway bar link bolts.don-ohio(:^)

The serpentine belt routing diagram for a 95 mercury grand marquis. What belt do I need to bypass the AC pulley?

Rather than by pass the AC pulley You can actually buy a dummy pulley. It has the same position and size as the the AC pulley but has a frame instead of the AC assembly. In this way you can remove the A and keep all belts etc. the same. The following site has a diagrams for the '95 marquis belt route:- http://www.bestvalueautoparts.com/Replacement_Parts/MERCURY/GRAND_MARQUIS/Illust_c_Belt_Routing.html

Need help finding and installing swaybar endlinks

If your driving a 96 just look at tire wear if it is ok .. then you are probably doing ok .. That year is known for rough road rattles ... Just watch tire wear. tells you alot if your steering is tight also.
