Truck wont start

My 2000 dodge dakota 3.7 v6 magnum all of a sudden doesnt start. When I attempt to turn the ignition, it keeps cranking, and at times it kinda seems lke its going to start but doesnt. battery seems ok cause it is cranking. This problem ussually happens with vehicles in the harsh calgary winters, however the weather is very mild right now. how can i get it to start

I'm having the same problem. The engine light has been coming on and off for the past few weeks but usually turns off after I tighten the gas cap. This time however the truck had a hard time starting on Wednesday and sounded as if a few of the cyclinders weren't kicking in (may have been flooded) The truck drove a bit funny ever since then when using the gas. The truck sat from friday night to monday morning and when I attempted to start it this morning, it was cranking but not firing. THe lights inside the truck would come on along with the stereo so i'm assuming the battery is fine. I'm really ready to kick this truck and i'm getting fed up!

1.) spray engine starting fluid into air intake ---remove air filter if necessary.
2.) if ignition only on this spray, then seek bad fuel supply problem.
3.) if no ignition, check for spark.

2007 magnum se 2.7 v6 wont turn over

Sounds like the engine is toast.
The warning light means the oil pressure has dropped below 10psi which can mean the engine is low on oil, or that something has happened to the oil pump or other components.
The crank bearings may be seized from lack of oil.
See if you can turn the crank by turning the alternator pulley.

94dodge Dakota won't start

if the truck has a tach watch it when it wont start. if the tach goes up when rollin over the sensor is fine. check for switchin at the coil with a test lite. the coil is a common failure especially if its all swollen and rusted.

My 2000 dodge dakota wont start. I replaced the battery and still wont start. The lights are strong and it turns but wont start. What could be wrong?

Two basics; fuel supply and ignition. Neither of these are difficult to check but for in-hand assistance, a service manual is a good investment and we like Haynes:

Cranks but wont start

Check your ignition module. If that is not it, I recommend checking your ignition switch i.e. the thing you insert you key into when you start. There is a possibility that your ignition switch is bad.

2000 Dakota 3.9 V6 wont start just cranks, has plenty of fuel

I agree that it's probably the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS).  Without the pulse from this sensor, you vehicle will never start.  Sometimes water from a leaking water pump will run down onto this sensor and cause it to fail.
You can go to MSN Auto for your vehicle and under the "Reliability" tab  you will see the same thing regarding the CPS (listed under Engine issues).

2005 3.7 v6 dodge dakota igition switch

Time for a new ignition switch. This just the switch portion and not the tumbler. You should be able to still use your old tumbler and key. Good luck to you. Thanks for using Fixya!
