Idel problems with 1999 Taurus wagon

I have a '99 Taurus wagon with a 3.0 L 24 valve DOHC Duratech V-6 engine. The car has 73K miles and usually runs fine. Over the last couple of days the engine has been dying at stop signs. After restarting, the idle drops steadily to about 800 RPM and the engine dies. I replaced the air filter and am wondering if the Idle Control needs to be replaced? Last tune up was at 65K.

Turned out to be a leaking vacuum hose. Minor repair & it runs fine again.

When I come to a stop, the idle is setting at 1100 rpm's, and then after holding the brake , reduces rpm's to 600. Also without given the car any fuel at the pedal, it will usually maintain 40 MPR, unless I am going up hill.

I need the vacumn lines diagram for an 03 ford taurus wagon with a 3.0. 24 valve dohc v6 engine

All 2003 Ford vehicles were shipped with vacuum line routing diagrams printed on a sticker, which should be affixed inside your engine compartment. It is important that you use THAT diagram, as vacuum routing varies widely from vehicle to vehicle depending upon options and regional configuration.

I have a 1999 ford taurus with a 3.0 duratech and i cant seem to find a knock sensor replacement

Hello, Try these 2 sites where I located your part. Car-stuff.com shows some of the part numbers that will fit, if you read your original numbers off the part. The AutopartsShop.com has a listing that goes by Year and engine size and whether it is a 4 valve engine or not.

I tried Advance Autoparts and did not favor too well, except that the Search engine had asked for the Vin# letter for a search catagory. Another site asked if the car was a G, GL, LX, or SHO.

I did notice in a picture search that the Taurus has 1 knock sensor which screws into the engine, another which just mounts on top of a plug-in terminal, and a third that appears to have a wire hanging from it.

There appear to have been about four 6 cylinder engines that were all different. You had a base 3.0L engine, a Bi-fuel 3.0L, and Overhead cam 3.0L engine and the four valve engine.

I believe the 2 Websites I mentioned can help you.

Do i have to remove intake to replace rear spark plugs on a 1999 ford taurus

If it is an OHV engine, No. If the engine is a 24 VALVE DOHC motor then, yes.

Can't find location of low radiator fluid warning sensor on 1999 Ford Taurus V-6 DOHC engine

Hello:

Usually on Ford automobiles, the low coolant sensor is built into the coolant overflow tank cap. If yours is this way, you can spot the wiring and electrical connector attached to the cap. The sensor looks like a dipstick in the coolant tank.

Hope this helps!

I have to by a new EGR valve for my 99 taurus with dohc. I need to know if it is easy for me to replace the part myself? Is it easy for me to get to on my engine?

Yes, EGR valves are usually in a very accessible place on the engine. You may have to move a couple of things out of the way, but it's one of the easiest things to replace on your car.

73k miles needs new engine? 2002 Sentra SER

Did u add oil and attempt to start car? What's it doing? How often did u have to add a quart of oil (in miles)?
It does sound like it was consuming too much oil, but once u run it dry, there is no warantee that will cover it, so manufacturer can't (won't) help u on this. I agree, an engine rebuild would be VERY expensive due to no oil damage, the best thing to do (if the car is in good shape otherwise, trans. good, body good) would be to find a used motor from a scrap yard (must be careful to check mileage and that the 'donor' car wasn't in a bad front end collision which may cause engine problems) or a re-manufactured engine. Any further questions, let me know, sorry for the bad news.
