Yes either pull excess wire with vise grips or go in front grill area center and use a screw driver to pry latch open, find where cable attaches to latch then push w/driver to open latch.

How do i open the hood manually the latch is broken. i have a black covered cable wire and the silver part of the wire is showing. i pull the latch nothing happens to release the hood

OK, if the cable is the part that broke AND it broke at the handle, then you can use a pliers or vise grip to grab the end and pull on it to pop the hood, if it broke somewhere inside the cable, then you will need some needle nosed pliers to reach under the hood and grab it there. if it broke off at the hood latch itself, then you will need to get/ make a hook or pushing rod to engage the mechanism directly to release the latch and then replace the cable the latch looks like this:

Hood latch broke

You might have to take out the grill to get at the latch, or cut back the plastic part of the cable and use a pair of vise grips to pull the wire to open the hood.

Cant open hood

Depending upon the vehicle, some hood latches can be accessed from underneath the front and the latch can be opened by using a hooked tool improvised from a coat hanger or a piece of strong wire.

The hood wont open on my cherokee sport. The cable has broke off at the interior release handle. I cant grab the cable to pull it. How can I get my hood open?

Generally you can use wire cutters to peel/cut back the outer casing enough to get hold of the inside cable with vise grips. The cable needs to be replaced anyhow to repair it so don't worry about being neat.

My hood was riggd with a wire to open the hood but now the wire broke and i cant get the hood open what should i do

You've got to make a long rigid hooked tool out of a piece of solid rod most likley found at a crafts store, It must be at least a foot and a half long and about 3/16 of a inch in guage. If I remember correctly the Cutlass had a plastic movable grille. You've got to get into the upper part of the radiator support with a very good led flashlight. On the end of the rod you want to create a "L" shaped hook. It should be about 3/4 of an inch at the bend. Now you have to locate a lever with a return spring attached to it. I'm certain if you've gone as far as making the original pullcord that broke, you're familiar with the piece I'm describing. Here's where the hook comes in. with your flashlight in hand and the hook in the other you've got to locate that lever or as much of it as you can see, and pull or lever it back towards the drivers side fender. Be patient, this is not easy, that's why they did this to prevent battery theft and the such. Once you're able to spot and move that lever your hood will pop open and you'll be able to open the safety catch afterwards. Remember Patience!!! If you can commission one of your friends to hold the flashlight that will make the chore a lot more tolerable. Good luck, Dana
